    What a day !

    Hope you had a winner!

Today it poured all day. High winds meant that the Ferris wheel had to be taken down. Aaah!!
Ruby Walsh made it three in a row with his win in the Kerry National on 10/1 shot Bothar Na.
Weather forecast bad for tomorrow too.

    From a long distance player:

john, had four winners on wed. plus 2 places.if i was in listowel have probably had none.with the ground so bad it is easy to check who likes the mud as it had rained heavy overnight.i had the winner of the kerrry nat. at 10/1.how it went off at that price as the jockey and trainer have won many races in listowel and won it last year.lets see tomorrow.
ps. you are no prince monolulu with your picks.

They are back at Joe's again! We don't know if it is their fondness for Joe, his prices, or want of somwhere to live it up on the last few days of Race Week before they head back Market Street.

Published in 1992, Johhnie gives us the history of Listowel Races and provides us with wonderful pictures of the likes of Bill Hennigan, Johnnie Moriarty, old Dr. Walsh, and many others.
It evokes submerged memories as I leaf through it.
I hope you can get a copy. I have mine open in front of me.

Lovely pics of yourself, wife & kids.
I am somewhat older than you but I do remember your family in Upper William Street.
I am from Main St./Small Square & go back to Listowel yearly ( from Phoenix, AZ.)
I am sure you will get communications from guys & gals shortly from Listowel who will keep you posted & posting.
Joe Broder is my second cousin, & a holiday/vacation in Listowel would not be complete without a visit to Joe, Mary & kids.

    I too like Bob Dylan.

Are you called ' Bernard ' or, ' Ben '?.

Where in Canada are you? Not Listowel, Ontario, by chance?

Last time I was in Listowel was Jan 2004 with the wife and family. My dad is still there...he has been in that house since 1918 the year he was born.

The Annual St. Patrick's Day Parade here in Phoenix, AZ is no mean thing either.
    Shawnee, KS looks like fun.

Bernard, I am sure, is already booking his next trip home to Listowel?.

And, Bernard, to paraphrase Arcade: Best regards from way down the street & into the next [ Main] street.;)

...I got his cell/mobile # from Batty Hannon.

We will ' hookup ' here in Phoenix, AZ later this month.

    Wonderful!.

First time user...hope all goes well! I'm researching my wife's family tree and we have come across a photograph (circa 1920 or earlier) of her Great Uncle sitting outside a house in an army uniform. A small sign on the house wall states 'Lawler, Listowel' and a stamp on the rear states 'From Wm Lawler, Photographer, Listowel.' We believe that the uniform is of the Irish Volunteers, but we're not quite sure how a man from the north of Scotland ended up in Listowel....but that's another story. We are hoping to visit Listowel in the not too distant future to try and locate where the photograph was taken.

Does anyone have information as to where this photographer's shop was in Listowel, and if the building still exists today? Thanks in anticipation!

Photograph now added. I.T. skills improving.

Why don't you put up the photograph? If we saw the building we might have a clue.

Bernard, I will see if I can find a photo of upper William Street. Have been to Canada a couple of times. It's a very enjoyable train ride up the Hudson River etc.

SCOTTISH BOY I have enlarged your photo so we all can look at it furtherand see what we can come up with. Stay tuned.
