    Freelanders like the old Discovery have also been known to have gearbox trouble. Also the 1.8 petrol unit in the Freelander struggles in that heavy body and mpg suffers.

    I would avoid them.

    I had one in work for a couple of weeks and was surprised by it, the 1800cc, a 98, 32k on the clock, it was a nice drive. nice driving position.
