I need to bridge a wireless network to an older wired network, and I want to do it on the cheap. I have a pallet (literally) of banjaxed Dell laptops, and I've managed to knock one good one out of it... or semi-good anyway. It seems to have 64MB RAM and a 4GB HDD, and I've got an Atml 11Mbit wireless card and a generic ne2000 nic for it.

Heres the killer - its got NO CD-ROM. I've got a floppy drive for it though

So is there a few floppy or install-by-net-from-floppy distro thats >100MB or so thats suited for packet flinging? Currently, I have a G4 iBook running Tiger doing a job, a total waste of resources...

    Have you seen m0n0wall?
    http://m0n0.ch/wall/

It might take a bit of juggling to get installed without a CD rom but it's small distro ~ (5 Mb)
it does Wireless and is a well featured firewall.

OpenBsd sounds like the right tool here.
