Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

The 2nd guest mix (Slipmatt I think) mix is hardcore - crap.

People seem forget that an AWFUL lot of tracks that are considered cheesey or commercial now were anything but when they were originally released.

If you are referring to my original criticism of the track selection i have to say that i can honestly say whether you regard them as cheesy or not now or back then that i dont ever recall a night with tracks like them being played in the ASYLUM ever.........dont get me wrong as i said originally i'm not critisising the actual track selections as it is each to their own with what they consider a good tune or not but i was critising the suggestion of that track selection being offered as a night of ASYLUM classics.

I never said they were cheesy or anything like it just that they would have gone down like a lead balloon in the ASYLUM at 6am & that most of em wernt even out......;)

I stick by my original post. Scooter = hardcore if I'm correct?

I do remember bouncing around to Ultrasonic though at the local disco.

scooter = cheese not hardcore, i listened 2 that whole mix in the link and every track on it is hardcore from '90 - '96, granted it gets a bit happy even 4 my likin at the end but hardcore in general is 1 of the best oldskool forms of music.
should listen 2 some of the old carl cox and slipmatt mixes from '89 - '94 absolutely quality, and the mixin and scratchin they were wackin out at the time would put any dublin dj from the same era 2 shame, hence the fact that they're international superstar dj's respected all over the world.
don't get me wrong i love me dublin oldskool stuff aswell, but listen 2 an asylum or sides mix and then listen 2 1 of the above mentioned dj's mixes from the same year and you'll see what i mean.
NO DISRESPECT INTENDED 2 ANY OLDSKOOL DUBLIN DJ'S THAT MIGHT READ THIS. BIG RESPECT 4 ALL THE MIXES AND MEMORIES.

heres real hardcore at its best 4 any1 who thinks its all about scooter and that s**te.

Half of that I wouldn't call hardcore at all, it's almost breakbeat/ drum n bass in places!

    Scooter is s**te, agreed.

oldskool hardcore is what gave rise 2 d'n'b and breaks and also jungle. nearly every track made between '90 - '94 had some sort of break beat sound 2 it, its only the stuff that really caught on over here that doesn't.
scooter is sh1te alright, no time 4 that muppet music at all, but real hardcore like the tracks i've upped here are some of the best rave/dance tracks ever produced.
    absolutely love the stuff!!!

I once had a Box set of 12 Jungle tapes which opened up like a book, all original tapes, Slipmat, Carl Cox some Danny someone and 9 others I cant remember. I wasnt into the whole Jungle thing at the time and I gave the set away:eek::eek:
I'd say that set was right up your alley.
Listen to DJ Rob 2 & 4. Oil being mixed with water, pitch perfect mixing with a brilliant track selection;)
