Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

That pic is the Waterfront, though it has changed now

Kavanagh's night was called unknown pleasures, him, spring and pressure wasn't great to be honest, friday was a much better night.

I remember getting refused at the door of the waterfront one saturday night, by a stocky lad with a tash that started doing the door after the raid. told us it was a gag night and we'd be out of place. I asked him WTF's a gag night? a gay and les night that was on every last saturday of the month. I said ok turned on the heels to head back up town and a taxi pulls up out side and this cracker gets out with a short leather skirt or something on. mmmmm i wish i was going in now, the mott looks at me and says you know there's probaly something dangling between those legs, i replyed hopefully its only a tampon string. I also remember the bouncer taking a vicks inhaler off me at the door, also seen him down stairs throwing a few people out. as i was saying wasn't as good after they changed the bouncers

Can't wait either myself!! I remember the very first gig i went to was the Gleneagle hotel in Killarney in August 93. The coach down was mental with the sounds blaring the whole way down and was like a pharmacy on tour!! Me and a mate ended getting a couple of pills in there and paid 25 punts each!! Have to say it was one of the best nights of my life!!!

I thought they played in McGonagles as the Experience Tour?

It was a loooooong time ago so my memory is very hazy.

Ger,We left from Connolly station i think? If we were on the same bus, they were my sounds playing on the way down.If memory serves me right it was a couple tapes live from big raves in England with an MC.The excitement on the way down i'll never forget as it was my first time to venture outside the Pale to a Rave;)

At the time, a mate of mine had recorded a recent Prodigy gig in England off Radio 1 so we were listening to that tape non stop before the Heaven on Earth gig. As far as I can remember the set list was exactly the same. Wish I still had the tape. :(

Thats right SgtBilko mate!!! We did leave from Connolly station and we made a stop halfway down for around 15/20 mins for a piss i think!! Everybody just got out and started rolling more numbers as it wasn't a bad day as far as i can remember!! Ah jaysus no way, they were your sounds!! I kept saying to my mate sitting beside me that the sounds were animal!! I was collecting a lot of the Universe and Eclipse tapes back then. There was a lad sitting across from me and a few of the lads kept calling him Strawberry!! He was out of his bracket, off his tits and face all rolled into one!! It was hilarious!! Yeah mate the madness on that bus journey was worth the ticket alone!! I'll never forget it!!

Never made it to the prodigy gig yer all on about but a mate of mine did & got nicked with two mad bastards.......upon appearing in court some months later he said the judge had no notion of the difference between E's & a 10 spot of blow:D

He was just lashing through the proceedings giving out £20 fines for everythying.

Drove by the point earlier & the sign up for the prodigy looks class........that end of town has changed a lot:eek:

Only seen them the once in OXYGEN 2007 or 2006 not sure now but they were brilliant......hope ya's all have a blast;)

Ah yes I went to that prodigy gig in 92 and on to the asylum afterwards that night aswell...

It was an absoulutly amazing night. One of my best night ever. The tune I remember most of that night was carpe Diem - the buzz it was pounding out in the point as we were on our way in queueing to leave jackets in.. From wat I can remember yer man Maxim came out in a priests suit then had a devil suit on underneath..

Some mad yokes around at the time cant remember the name but it was something like mg180s, on to the asylum then and they had snowballs...peoples eyes were in the back of their nuts by that stage turned over white... You rarley see that any more !!!

    Ah the memories!!!

I dont wana be devils advocate but thats a good enough reason to get refused:D We done that practically every time going into the Asylum sure it was par for the course in there, I remember going in one night with the traditional compliment of six cans of Bud, the tipple at the time, and a load of travellers were at the door trying to get in.
We all breezed in but they looked like they were being refused, there has to be some sort of code at the door:D

One of the bouncers in the Ormond Printing Works/Multimedia was ex-Olympic and used to let me bring in a bag cans, scrumpy jack yum.

As for door policy, I knew the Asylum had class and high standards....keep that type out;)

enjoyed reading that, most accuarate description i have read from what i remember. What about Rocky and Diesel ? I don't see them getting a mention anywhere and if my memory is correct they played sides a good few times.

    But

This cannot be true surely ? I remeber the system came a few years later but McGonagles was always a smelly hippy hole that hosted heavy metal bands, i hung around st annes street for years and it was always a rockers venue.

Wasn't McGonagles the first place the Prodigy played in Dublin? Once or twice before The Point and Gleneagles
i used to see a few lads in there that wouldn't look out of place at a death metal gig if you know what i mean. it probably had the most diverse crowd out of all the dublin clubs i've been in and i never seen any hassle.

Sides used to have a few non-raver looking heads in there and as for the hippys n the Ormond Printing Works doing art work on the walls at the start of the night.

I remember arriving at the hotel in the early afternoon, good weather and a bit of sun..the hotel was just swamped with ravers, the hotel and the locals didn't know what was going on. It was one of the best nights I was ever at.

 I remember that like yesterday, I was right in the middle for most of the night, I can't even remember who or what was going on in the other room. The strange thing on the night was the hotel residents/guests looking in the windows at us with mouths open...they were in the fish bowl looking out:eek: And the craic up in killarney town that night, dancing in a carpark until the early hours listne to tunes from Dave The Raves Micra:pac: Happy days....fooook all those jealous cnuts that didn't have the pleasure of the early 90's....we made history and people are just jealous they weren't part of it. We're writing the history book right now in this thread, there's no room for comments (negative) from people who weren't there, yah haven't got a clue what it was like.ggggggggooooooooooooooooooonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn

I think this is the crowd that occupies, the old Asylum Building nowadays on Sackville Place,
funny to think what went on there years ago,
might join the Dance Classes myself, just to have a look at the inside again. :D:D:D:D

Took them in the temple of sound one night and literally couldn't stand up for the whole night, which is probably why people thought they were tranqs. Think it was the first time I ever smacked out completely for a night, funny pills really!
