Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

always liked this 1.. ive always wondered why are all the old tracks the best, now there is some really good tech/house etc out there,, i think its because its got more technological, new equiptment, new sounds, ya just dont hear new tracks like them anymore, which alot of them are still ahead of their time, not all of them tho ofcourse...and i think alot of the tracks these days have no melodie, all gone serious,,, just thought id put that out there ha

Was that the night some lunatic went around with a knife slashing people at random....? or have I mixed it up?

Liquid Wheel were the most underrated dance group we ever had. I got in touch with them a couple of years ago and they are still together....playing jazz! They stuck me on their guestlist for a couple of gigs though in fairness.

I remember the night they were support for Moby in the SFX back in 94' and they upstaged him....

By far the best mix of this anthem! Rarely played for some strange reason. Brilliant.

I think that was the night the lunatic went mad with the knife yeah. If I remember right someone mentioned it earlier in this thread.

I went to see Liquid Wheel in the Navan Exhibition Centre one night and they were brilliant. They did their own percussion over the tracks.

They were supposed to be supporting Ultrasonic but they got a much better response from the crowd.

Yes, you're right, it was at the Faithless gig. Seven slashed. Some weirdo off his head did it.

Yes was thinking it was that gig alrite.Remember it well in fact.Faithless played insomnia 3 times trying to keep the crowd. They played it the first time it went down a bomb. Then they brought out the instruments and the crowd went nuts. But in a bad way as they start throwing things at the group on stage,so they had to play insomnia again to get the crowd back and they did but just for that song. They tried the instruments again and the same thing happened so they played insomnia for a third time.So while this is going on some dope was running round with a stanley swinning it every were.have to say i did'nt see it meself.Anyways the lights come on and i'm like whats the **** is going on.The gig was'nt meant to end at this time but it did.So we headed off down the other side of the liffey and into the waterfront and had a great nite.Remember purchasing another e when i got in there and it was 1 of the best i've ever done.

Probably because the whole scene/sound was fresh, but IMO you are spot on circa 93-5 with the rare exception music was so original, class apart.

I tell yiz what lads yiz missed a seriously amazing nite @ The Raindance Warehouse Acid House party in Hackney, East London, i haven't been to anything like that since the early 1990's, it was absolutely top notch, the venue, a real warehouse the way it should be was superb, Raindance had all their banners and backdrops and the lazer and lighting was deadly, they totally transformed the place and they put a huge amount of work into it, you'd expect nothing less from Raindance, if any organisation deserves a lifetime achievement award for servives to dance music it's Raindance still going strong in 2010 their 21st year.

We arrived about 10.45pm which is early by my standards but i wanted to be there for most of the nite and it was already going off, it was ACID HOUSE all nite and the music was incredible, some vintage tunes id literally not heard in years and some tunes id never even heard before, the crowd was brilliant, a much older crowd than the usual Rainance, i spoke to 1 man from Belfast who was 50:D made me feel young ill tell ya, he said he packed it all in around the mid 90's, he started in 1987 but he heard about this and had to go, the legendary Wayne Anthony the man behind http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Genesis_%2788 was there too,id estimate 80% of the crowd were over 30 but everyone was very friendly and it was a sellout as well which was to be expected given the massive reputation Raindance have,it's hard to know who played the best set as everyone who played was good but at a push id say it was betwen Steve Proctor who played some real Underground Acid and Ellis Dee.

I took a load of videos as well so ill upload them and post them here, if i only go to something like this once in the blue moon id be happy, in fact if i never went to a club or rave for the rest of the year i wouldn't mind as this was amazing,im ****ed if im ever getting a coach the next morning at 8.30 up north after a nite lik this, i was in a bundle yesterday and had to call into work sick today, im getting auld and not able for it anymore especially sessions like these where literally everyone was on one big time:D

    Hi everyone,
Have been reading this thread for a number of weeks now. Thanks for bringing back a lot of great memories. I unfortunately never made it to The Asylum or The Mansion House. For me it was Sides, Grouchos, UFO/Waterfront, Ormonde Multimedia Centre (here every week for about 2 years), Temple Theatre. I'm in the C Quence video that CAF uploaded on YouTube and knew Micko M well back in the day - went to school with him. Warren was always my favourite Irish DJ but loved the others as well.

Just wondering if anyone remembers an Irish band called "Hastis"? They supported N-JOI in the Tivoli in March 94 and were amazing. Mark Kavanagh also supported. I'll never forget when Mark dropped this:

    Or this:

Anyway, thanks for the memories and look forward to taking some more trips down memory lane. Peace out.

No man haven't read all of them yet - have a long way to go yet (fair play on 600 odd pages by the way). I just thought it was time to make my presence known :D. Delighted I found it and it's good to meet some like minded people. I miss the good oul days. Been to a few gigs over the last 2 years after a very long break and it's not the same which is a pity. Thanks for the reply.

Dont want to be pesimistic but without a doubt it will never ever be like it used to be.......1990 - 1996 was unique & the experience was of its time......not detracting from anyone thats buzzing today that wasnt around back then cause im sure your having a blast where ever you are going & whatever you are listening to now but for anyone who experienced the raves like the OLYMPIC, ASYLUM, SIDES, WATERFRONT, ORMOND, etc nothing will ever really stand up to the life & mind changing time you were emmersed in.........amazing time.

Yeah I agree. My nephew grew up listening to me go on and on about the time I had back then and I got him seriously into the tunes. It was actually him who found the video of me on YouTube (which he found hilarious). Recent gigs we went to were Laurent Garnier (twice) and Luke Slater (also twice but live set as Planetary Assault System and a DJ set). Good tunes but zero atmosphere.

Anyone here remember Carl Cox in Ormonde MMC on Paddys day (about 95-96)? Started about 7 (I think) and every big name Irish DJ was playing and they absolutely blew Coxy away. Not saying he was crap, but the Irish DJ's were so much better than him.

I think the best nights in Ormonde were The Magic roundabout nights. Although one better was Circus One (line up at this was Dollard, Francois, Warren and I think Ed Case). Mad mad night that was. I was going around the place with a smiley face painted on my chest but it didn't last long due to the heat. Woke up the next day with yellow paint streaks down my belly :p
    Crazy crazy times.

I remember having a few good nights Grouchos ,not a bad club. And would you believe I only ever made it to the Ormonde a hand full of times:(

    Thanks for the welcome ;)

Grouchos was a cool club alright, though tiny it had a sweet atmosphere. Knew Lep H well and I belive that was his baby (think Sides could have been as well). Pity it didn't last long.
I loved the Ormonde man, though if I'd started earlier I probably would have been burned out as well:o

Anyone go to the first Dance Nation in the NBA in Tallaght? Deadly night, think N Trance headlined but my memory is a bit hazy on that.
