Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi,
Im trying to find a 2nd hand laptop for my girlfriend. Have the option of getting an IBM Thinkpad 600e. Does anyone know much about it? Is it a seriously outdated machine and not worth purchasing? While she wouldnt be a demanding user, I dont want to get her a piece of crap
    Regards
    -Ciano

Yeah, I had one at work for a long time. It went everywhere with me - like all IBM's they are well built, top class machines for their day.

I would recommend one, but just to be sure post up the spec and asking price.

Here are the full specs (if not, then surely quite close)

    Asking price is €150

600e's are bulletproof, and when you manage to kill one, spares are easily got.

150 is okay, ideally you will want more ram than 64mb, even for windows 98.

Be warned however, the batteries in them are rubbish, espcially the Sony cells:

I have one here that has been litterally thrown about, numerous times and is still going.

I used to work for a company that sold them, very little hardware returns. Lots of battery issues though!
