From electricnews.net if anyone hasnt seen this, just noticed it on todays roundup..

Lobby group IrelandOffline has strongly criticised Eircom's new pay per minute broadband offering, which was launched on Thursday as reported by ElectricNews.net. Group chairman Damien Mulley said that the time-based product from Eircom has "switched the clock back for internet users." IrelandOffline also stated that the product "will do nothing but increase people's fear using broadband instead of encouraging them." In a separate statement on the subject, Smart Telecom's CEO Oisin Fanning said "Eircom have shot themselves in the foot with this product."

NEW eircom Broadband Time promotion - just €19.99 per month!
If you are an internet user and currently use dial-up for a few hours a week or wish to experience Broadband, eircom has the product for you.
FREE Connection
€19.99 per month (ex. VAT)
20 hours time allowed per month
Modem can be purchased for €49.99 or rented for €1.99 per month

That's pathetic, 25 quid a month for less than a day's access, I can't see it lasting long.

For cheaper broadband, people should be looking at BT Ireland. For €49 a month and no setup, you get line rental and a proper ADSL connection (no time limit, though there is a 12GB download limit, which is still bigger than you'd get on Eircom's non-time-limited product). Basically, it's "full" ADSL for about €24.50 a month, cheaper than even UTV.
