It was announced by Bill Gates that Xbox360 will have a hidden function, does anyone have any ideas what it might be?

I'd say it is Xbox Live and it can only be unlocked a year after its launch.

In fact, from rumours i have heard, microsoft are keen to bring in something called "immersive 360" gaming.... my lips are sealed, but trust me, it sounds like its going to be the next evoloution of computer systems

you put the 360 on your head with some vr goggles and throw punches at thin air until you get motion sickness and throw up? sounds great!

Thats sounds nice, but they're supposed to be seriously developing the concept of virtual reality. such as games where you may get into a car but have to physically make the motion to start the ignition? and don't mention eyetoy....anybody watching you playing with one of them would think you'd just popped a load of e's and dancing to the tunes inside your head...i nearly broke my face because of that stupid thing...

    For the love of

All this secret "revolutionary" business is really testing the limits of my patience, I can't wait to see what all these companies have up their sleeves.

Dancing beside your TV is one thing, "physically make the motion to start the ignition" is just crazy... 'oh, look, there Jim trying to start his car before he has even left his house, again'....

I can understand that it would look stupid but just look at how popular they eyetoy was when it came out. People don't mind looking spasticated if they are enjoying what they are doing. I on the other hand had the misfortune of getting into a heated game of eyetoy virtua fighter and ended up with a groin strain and busting my face off a shelf.....

The hidden function will be more graphics. What else can the games industry think of?

the immersion gaming thing -->microsoft never revolutionise anything, they just copy what everyone else does and seems to make money.

it'll be one of four things

    1) pricey hardware upgrade to play all games from then on forcing everyone to go and buy the damn thing.
2)OS update to allow for more windows media centre like services or an itunes music store like service for multimedia.
3)a wireless network for xbox 360 users so that xbox live is no longer dependant on the speed of your connection. This is very far fetched. If it does happen it'll only be in the use for the first part of the year.
4)some kind of unlockable video commemorating the one year anniversary of the 360.

It's really a secret function timed like NIGHTS was on the sega a few years ago, but with a twist.. instead of christmas having snow, it's a weather control device which distorts weather patterns across the globe and gives Mr Gates the world domination he always wanted ;)

Honestly though, it'll probably unlock a hidden feature like LIVE for 360 .

Either that, or just for wicked pleasure he's programmed all games to play that stupid crazy frog as the soundtrack to all games, and the sound is locked in the on position :p

It does... on selected "popular" games. The only drawback: you have to rebuy the games, as its made for a different chip!
In odder news, Munetatsu has also suggested that the Xbox 360 will feature some kind of crazy hidden functions which won't be unveiled until a year after launch, when you'll be able to download an Xbox Live update to access them.

In other words: we have sh|t all @ the mo, so we're gonna wait to see how the PS3 turns out, and then well see what we can add to make the xbox more uber than your grannies 1920's porno vids.

Well I was just joking, given that MS have been so sketchy. But I doubt you'll have to buy anything new, it would be a marketting disaster. Eurogamer report that MS have made advances in the whole thing, but no one knows just yet
