    Hi all,
Just wondering if anybody knows of any software out there that will allow you receive text messages directly onto your PC (whether it be through a mobile phone or not). Or, if possible, software that will receive SMS's and put them into a database. ie if you text name and age, a database will have 2 columns and it will save this?
    thanks,
    antodeco

I think you'll have to get a gsm modem.. Here's one, although with that pcmcia slot, it's meant for a laptop..

You don't necessarily need a GSM modem. A lot of phone comes with modems built in an will allow you to send/receive sms messages via the handset when connected to a pc. You will however need and sms s/w package and these usually don't some cheap. Try tapping google for sms gateway and see what comes back.

Thinking different - if all you are going to do is receive it may be possible for your operator to forward sms to an email address. I know they can do it for mms so it may be possible. Then all you have to do is write an app that opens a pop mailbox and extract the messages and write them to a db.
