Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back a page or two to re-sync the thread and this will then show latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi all,

I've captured some video footage from MiniDV onto the PC in avi format.
Now, what format must it be burn onto the DVD for a DVD player to read?

I think I have to convert it from avi to mpeg (which version?) and then burn the mpeg to DVD. Is this correct?

    Thanks,

    pan

you need to convert it to dvd compliant mpeg2 576 x something resolution
then author the mpeg into vob files

check out mainconcept mpeg encoder, 14 day trial on their site
    to convert
and tmpeg dvd author, 30 day trial on their site, to author

    basic, beginner friendly tools,
mainconcept is also one of the faster encoders in my experience

Thanks chalk for the quick reply!

what exactly do you mean by "author the mpeg into vob files" ??
Do you mean simply rename the mpeg to vob?

I have access to adobe premiere, so hopefully it can convert from avi to mpeg. I just have to find that feature. :)

    thanks again

To author to Vob files, no it's not as easy as renaming the files. You need to have authoring software. Adobe do some.... the name slips my mind at the moment.
