I am sure that tne new owners will come up with some sort of package in due course with a telephone product.

NTL had a domestic phone service up until last year, actually. They withdrew it because there were a few cases of the converter box in people's attics going on fire.

    Indeed they did!

We have had the same issues alfern,
web pages timing out, unrelible pings to say the least and
absurd dl and upload speed not even half of what we are ment to be paying for each week.

6 weeks of ringing and getting no where and they have said we may need to send some one out but no word of when.

we are in blanchardstown we were on the artrium but were moved to Ballycoolin
signal wise but no one came out to adjust the mast on the roof to face Ballycoolin.

Well....I am not from Ireland, and not used to this kind of 'service'.....I thought they wanted to keep their customers...

Anyways, if I at least had a signal I would be kind of happy. But I have to reconnect to the service every time I load a webpage. Right after the connection is received it works very good, pings are good, speed is good, but it only last for a minute.

I will try calling them tommorow, and if they cannot give me an answer I'll break out of the contract. If they deny me, I will prosecute them. Because I do not pay for anything I don't get!

Right now they maybe don't have that much competition, but in the long run it's customer service and customer satisfaction that will make their income.

    Package- 2Mb Business package
    Engineers- quick, clean and efficient
Service- no drops, full speed, excellent
    Mast- Three Rock
    Customer service- never used

    Ping :
    --- 82.195.136.36 ping statistics ---
165 packets transmitted, 165 packets received, 0% packet loss
    round-trip min/avg/max = 6.302/10.66/52.272 ms

If I may make an observation...
Those who are on Breeze, in general, are far happier than those on Ripwave.
The roof-mounted antenna seems to be a much idea than those wee boxes...

And gee whats this then, could it be an admission that I wasn't aware that you didn't have to switch phone company anymore???:

At least I can suggest it to one of my friends who's currently stuck with Eircom and very disappointed (having to change phone company was his reason for sticking with Eircom), the others all got fed up and left Eircom a couple of months ago.

You're not going to even bother checking the website of a company if you think that you've already good reason to cross the company off the list of possibilities, e.g. do you check the details of the internet suppliers in Austrailia or Japan? No, because you have good reason to doubt they will supply you broadband here so you've already crossed them off the list of companies to look at.

As for this eircom crowd you seem to worship, for a few hours yesterday in my area their "free" dial-up was accessable but you couldn't actually do anything with it as info was going out but nothing was coming in, couldn't even load the basic search engine pages. If they can't give even a reasonable service on a connection where they earn more profit for every minute you stay on why should I believe that they'll give a good service for a connection where they get a set amount of cash into their hands regardless of how much you use it?

Is there any chance you guys can continue this discussion somewhere else so we can continue to bitch about or praise IBB in peace?

I was with IBB until the start of June - found them to be excellent.

Engineers- were fast and efficient in erecting mast.
Service- has been poor, 4 mohtns of bad pings and bad downloads, thats with 7months using IBB. 2 complet losses of service in that time.
Pings- some times 20 - 30 but way to often in the 200 range.
    Mast- Atruim, Blanchardstown, D15
Customer service- Nice lads but never really fixed much for me. Have made about 15- 20 calls to theim i

It started out with me saying that IBB seem to be the best of a bad lot and that as long as it does what I need it to I don't really care about whether or not it ever reaches 2Mb up or down, then others jumping to the defense of the other BB suppliers (so it did start about IBB). I'm happy to drop it if they will as they've yet to change my oppinion of any of the other companies and, with their numbers Vs. the amount of dis-satisfied customers, of the BBs they wish to defend, I'm aquanted with, they're unlikely to change my mind.

Should be ~2-3 wks 'til I'm hooked up (ordered just over 3 weeks ago) so I just have to patiently wait in the meantime...

Ment to have a 2meg line. And with super fast speeds of like 3.5k from the nforce site and 23k from IBB test site. Every time you call its like you have just fallen from space. Its a total joke. Well I have been on to them twice to day. With holding any moneys due to them. As im not getting the service and Im seeking legal advice about getting back what I payed for a service they said was all singing and all dancing. But really was all rubbish. Not paying good money to be fob me off with where looking into it. 2 months now and a 100 euro more of my money they taken. But no more. They fix it or As they where told their mast and other thing will be removed from my house. Here is some thought is IBB a sister company of a well known Cable company here.lol they seem to treat their paying customers the same way. lol just a thought.

Stating that you use nforce is probably not the best way to get your problem corrected!

Inspite of the obviously poor service you are getting.

gotta say im pretty happy at the mo, 2meg on 3rock-great speeds most of the time...

in saying that ive had some rough times including old equipment and broken routers so maybe im due some nice service...

Their network seems badly designed, and is taking a severe beating. I'd say a lot of the problem is some masts seem to route through their entire network of masts before getting out into the net. Seems a very very bad way to design a network. If a mast like tallaght goes down, they'll lost all the masts that route through it. (i.e. ballymun and ballycoolin).

IBB called me yesterday and said they have given me the wrong IP address. Now it's working perfect. :D

  • Registered Users Posts: 236 ✭✭richardo

One of my main complaints with IBB since I joined was that they were only contactable from Monday to Friday, which was a bit frustrating if a problem arose on Friday evening.

I have just received a card from them saying their Customer Support Centre is now open seven days a week including Bank Holidays. A step in the right direction.

As for speed, I am currently getting 1.81Mbps down and 1.82Mbps up, which is fairly constant.

Overall, I am very happy with IBB. Even if I had the option of an alternative supplier [which I don't] I'd stick with 'em.

I got 1mb Breeze installed today in Bray, so far it is looking good. I have been getting these speeds consistently since 4pm when I came online. (hope it stays like that!)

Right now your connection is perfect 1M/1M stmmetric...keep your eyes on the speeds because if they start to drop....they will keep on dropping if you dont make sure to keep IBB informed!!!

Yep, that's perfect. If everybody who had an IBB connection had these results, Eircom, BT, ntl, Smart, etc would struggle a lot more...

Just thought I'd add my own to the little gallery...

It's usually better than that too, hovers around 980up and down.

Heh, just noticed there's a staggering difference in the time for Round Trip there... probaby a good thing I don't play pc or console games.
My ping to boards.ie is around 6ms though.
