Ahhh man that sucks balls! I was looking forward to that film too!

Saw the trailer for it, and damned if I'm not anticipating it muchly. I think the film deserves to be pirated if the company isn't arsed with a worldwide release.

Well the only thing im waiting for in September is the start of the school year. A mate of mine tells me he has it already. I dont know how, why or what format. I`ll have to wait till the weekend to hook up with him and find out.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,304 ✭✭✭✭koneko

Yeah, it's out in the US, so it'll be "out" in other ways. No way in hell am I waiting till September! (Though it would have been nice to finally see a Romero film on the big screen)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,042 ✭✭✭spooky donkey

Well i never got that film in the end. Did any one else see it yet?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,304 ✭✭✭✭koneko

I got a "version" but the quality was so awful I didn't bother watching it, you could hardly make out what was happening. So I'm still waiting... :/

Devil's Rejects is out soon too, any sign of it coming out here? I doubt it. Looking forward to that too.

Agree, it is a pain in the nuts when its over in the States first. Think especially horrors because you begin to hear all reviews and opinions before it gets here and this can affect your viewing of a film. The best films I've seen have been ones I've heard nothing about (don't even watch trailers). There are a lot upcoming over the next year, here's just some:

    BloodRayne
    Skeleton Key
    The Cave
    The Fog - Remake
    Saw 2
    The Gathering
    Undead
    Underworld - Evolution
Texas Chainsaw Massacre - The Origin :(
    Silent Hill
    Final Destination 3
    Resident Evil - Afterlife

Haha, indeed. What a woeful pile of horsepoo. Bloodrayne? I'd rather poke my eyes out with a rusty fork than sit through another Uwe Boll trainwreck.

I noticed the ad for Skeleton Key says "from the writer of The Ring"

I don't know, but when I think writer, I think creator, the person that came up with the story and wrote it. Not the guy that took an existing film and made a poor script out of it for American audiences. At best, he adapted the screenplay, that doesn't make him the writer. I guess that might just be my interpretation of it, but people will watch that ad and think the same guy that created Ring originally wrote this, when that is nowhere near true.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 29,130 ✭✭✭✭Karl Hungus

Indeed, but "From the writer who adapted Ring" doesn't have the same... erm, ring to it. No pun intended.

Granted they are no where near as good as The Relic ;) but at least there is something for everyone.

Well I have high hopes for Underworkd 2. I was a bit let down by the first one. Then im not used to the hero of a film running away most of the way through the film. Oh wait Tom Cruise does that a lot also.

No1 is excited about the fog remake?, I loved the original.. :(

Other than that, Ive been playing the silent hill games for years and recently shed tears of joy after hearing pyramid head would b making an appearance. :D

"I'll always know what you did last summer" Will be as pityful as ever, but yet I know I'll find myself watching it at some stage..

OK my mate that was getting Land of the dead only got half of the film. So I watched half of it. It was only OK but I really need to see it all to have a proper opinion. I like what he has done with his zombies, slightly new idea. I think i`ll wait till september and go see the whole thing in the cinema. Thats if it even gets a cinema release. I think the likes of the UCI`s will only give this film a week if even that.

No. The original was great it doesn't need to be remade.

It does if some lazzy hollywood film director cant think of a decent film concept to make. Then do a remake. Its happing way too much these days.

Heh, I too crumbled to the temptation of watching it early over the weekend (I was off sick and had nothing interesting to watch, damnit). So I duly set about "obtaining" a copy, only to find after god knows how many hours that in fact the copy of "land of the dead" that I'd set about procuring was in fact some random porn film. Could've been worse, I suppose, but it was rather annoying...

I'm still surprised they're holding the release back until september and not doing the obvious - delay it until october and make it a halloween movie...

True, But thats not going to stop me getting excited about it.
I couldnt wait to see the TCM remake, even tho I knew it would pale in comparison to the original, I guess I just like to think theres a chance it will improve..

Any idea if/when Dark Water will be released here? The gf is mad to see it. Was released in the UK on Friday, but I gather it hasn't be rated here, so it's not been released. :(

After seeing the first half im not too excited about seeing the rest of it. It only looked OK nothing special. Dont get yer hopes up too high lads.

Id say dark water will get a general release here it looks kinda main stream enough with jenifer connolly in it. And im sure it will have a " form the XXXXXXer of the ring" tag attacked to it to give people some frame of reference. This one looks good, I havent seen the orignal but im sure they will all say its better.

I've seen the original and quite enjoyed it because it was all about atmosphere. I will keep an eye out for the remake, but I don't expect to enjoy it quite as much as the original. Mind you, that could be just pickyness on my part :D

I can't understand it lads. How can you say the films are crap and you hav'nt even seen them. Personally I'll probably end up watching the whole lot of them. There's never enough horror ;)

This is true, but on the other hand you can make an educated guess about their likely quality judging from their predecessors in the "american remake" genre and the people involved in making them.

I may end up watching some of them, but given my limited enjoyment of The Ring and The Grudge, I don't hold out much hope of really liking any of them.

Screw it, I'm going to watch that copy of the Fog that I got recently (12 euro for the 2disc edition - woot!). :)

Vaguely off topic but since I saw the Dark Water remake at the weekend....was reasonably pleased with it, they did make a good effort at keeping the atmosphere. They still went for jumpy bits though, and some of the changes made (including an irritatingly condescending final exposition scene) dumb it down. To be expected, but anyway....close enough to the original to render it almost pointless viewing, but it could've been a lot worse..
