How long did it take for the first call of the County & Group Broadband Scheme to go through and be announced. My town has applied for the second call. I don't know what I'll do if we don't get it. The satellite option is just way to expensive. Also, I'm 3.2 miles from my telephone exchange, if it ever does get upgraded, am I close enough(I have ISDN).

    I'm living in hope.
    Thanks

Normally it will take 1-3 months from when the application is made until a grant agreement is signed.

Depending on the number of other applicants, it may take longer.

What's the name of your town and what technology are you looking to use?

Do you know where the wireless base station is going to be placed? If so, do you reckon you have "Line-of-Sight" (LOS) from your roofline to the base station (ie. no buildings/hills/etc obstructing you)?

If you think you have LOS then there's a very good chance that you can receive the wireless broadband signal.

I think the base station is going to be placed in Kildorrey. From what I've been told, their going to mirror the signal into houses that don't have a LOS. Anyway, I think I'll be fine.

There are over 120 applications in this round of the GBS Scheme, and some Groups have already been informed that they have been successful. Some have had requests for more information, and some are still being reviewed.

We're hoping for some good news in the next few days :)

No, the sponsors are informed via the Regional Broadband Co-ordinator. So if you want to check out what is happening in your area you could try:

    Innishmore
