    Does anyone know how much a new bike tyre and tube costs?

    Mountain bike assumed. Those with road bikes would probably know the answer themselves.

    Cheapest mountain bike tyres BikeDock.com seems to be just under e18, and e6 for a tube.
    Ring some local bike shops. They can advise on suitable tyres for your use patterns.

    Yep - €17 and €4 is usually fairly close to the mark....
