They're getting a shocking amount of uptake at the moment, 2500 per month I believe was in the papers.
Hell, I signed up three weeks ago and they're not going to install for another month, I really can't put up with that, especially considering they appear to be overloading their capacity.

    2500 a month..damn thats a lot!

There is no ways they can give people a stable connection with that type of uptake.

Those figues must include Ripwave customers and we all know what type of service you get from that thing.

3 months to end of contract for me ! NTL in my area ! dont care about uplods once latency is stable !

I bet you they're thinking they can improve on 2500 a month because all this company thinks about is money. Money money money... They don't care if their service is up to scratch. And they don't care if their customers aren't happy. I mean just look at the state of their technical/customer support...

And I dare any IBB employee to come here and disagree with me!

If you have only just signed up for IBB and are waiting for an installation, I would advise cancelling and going with a real broadband supplier.

God help me for saying this but if I had the choice I would drop IBB like a shot for eircom.

TAKE THAT BACK Adey2002...not eircom...anyone else but those crooks....hahaha!!!

You must mean an eircom bitstream supplier...that it...not eircom...hahaha!!!

Much as I hate to say it, eircom are the perfect supplier compared with uselessbroadband, sorry i mean Irishbroadband

Are you surprised - the only action plan for the company is fire the management and train the support people - hell I had to explain to one of them what the difference between http:// and https:// were one time

shag that! they aren't providing the service. They have broken the contract already.

Cancel the Direct Debit now, tell the cowboys to mosey on over to collect their equipment and go with a real broadband provider.

I know people who've tried both Eircom and Esat and said they were crap so lets face it it's really a case of they're all **** and we're getting screwed because there are no decent companies set up to pressure the rest into giving a good service.

I dont agree with that i have eircom and its super reliable im very happy with it but i just want a better upload speed thats the only reason for irish broadband too but going by its first days performance with a max of 40k downloads im not that impressed ill give them a call later and if it isnt sorted straight away they can collect it and and ill get anotherline in for smart.

IBB seem to have absolutely shocking routing, everyone seems to have to go through up to 10 hops just to get off their network, compare with eircom, where there is my first hop to the main exchange, another to whatever peering point it is, and then straight over to their peering with at&t in new york, for example lol.

Got this email yesterday from IBB after signing up 6 weeks ago and also emailing the sales rep to cancel about 2 weeks ago

    Dear Customer

I’d like to take this opportunity to thank you for ordering broadband from Irish Broadband. Due to the phenomenal interest our current promotion is generating we are unable to meet our usual installation timescales of 3-4 weeks. We are however in the process of doubling our installation teams and our scheduling department will contact you as soon as possible to confirm an installation date for your broadband service.

I’d like to thank you for your understanding and assure you that the entire Irish Broadband team is working hard to have your broadband connection up and running as soon as we can.

    Regards

    Irish Broadband.

*** Should you have been contacted by our scheduling department within the last 48hrs please disregard this email ***

Maybe you'll get confirmation of your cancellation in about 4 weeks. I wouldn't worry about it though, they're bound to lose your initial order in the meantime and when they finally get round to reading your cancellation request they'll wonder what you are cancelling and ignore it.

Would be more worried if they actually installed it.

Just got off the phone from a IBB guy, What a great help he was! He can only help if my connection drops below.... wait for it.... 50k!
The "simple reason" my connection is so slow is because of the connection ratios. If everyones connected at the same time its gonna cause some problems..... HELLO IT A ALWAYS ON CONNECTION!!!!!!!!!
I know just cos its always on dont mean its being used but with the amount of muppets sold computers these days i'd say half on them have tonnes of SpyWare on them and being used as mailbommers, FTP servers and what not. I mean its a 2MB connection and im getting just under 250k connection speeds!!!
I held on the phone for 35min to have a 2min call and prob a crap ping test. I here-by give them a week to do something then i reckon we should all e-mail ComReg and send IBB a CC. Ratios dont explaine why my connection hops about 6 masts before even reaching the DNS. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

I think Smart telecom is the worst thing to happen to IBB. OHHHH they got 2 meg we have to go 2 meg! and since they have the service has gone to pot for every one. Give us all back our 1 meg connections that worked. 2 meg is just a bigger number for the marketing department to use its not a reality!
