I don't think I'll be watching the UK version if that clip is anything to go by. It just seemed like they were trying too hard to follow the US format, with over-the-top hand gestures from Tim (to match Xzibit) and over-the-top reactions from the contestant and the "pimpers" (? )

Tim Westwood, is indeed a Dj for Radio 1. I met him once. He's a bell-end. Thinks he's black and a homie, although he's whiter than snow. YE YE YE, BIG UP YE!, and all that crap. He played in Carlisle when I was in college, Signed a beam in a pub I worked as a bouncer, the owner painted over it the next morning.

Also Tim Westwood, was shot somewhere on his body by his "Black Homies". Lots of black people hate the way he bollocks on.

I didn't see it last night (was watching the last episode of '24') but I saw a couple of preview things during the week of it and it looks like a great big steaming pile of freshly laid horse manure! That Tim Westwood fella (no, I've never heard of him either) is a right tool! I can't stand white guys who try to be black and this guy just looks like a complete muppet trying to be "down with his homies". Still, though, I suppose it could have been worse. They could have got Richard Blackwood, an actual black guy who looks and acts like a white guy pretending to be a black guy!

I think the main problem with this show is going to be the fact that the cars they are going to be pimping over here will be sh!te, and I don't mean in terms of the condition they're in, either! During the previews during the week I saw a Mark II Golf and the aforementioned Morris Minor. And that's the problem. Here you're gonna have chav/skanger types with the likes of 1-litre Micras, Fiestas, Corsas, Novas, old Golfs and Honda Civics looking to be done up. At least in the US version they had some decent, proper muscle cars to pimp, Mustangs, Trans Ams, big old Cadilacs, massive trucks and jeeps and SUV's. There's no comparison, when you look at it that way.

Give me Xzibit and the West Coast Customs crew anyday!

Oh my God Westwood is eye wateringly bad at that. I really dont like xibit either but at least he can do the overblown gestures and look natural and comfortable doing it. Westwood looks awkward and bad. It actually looks like a pisstake even though its not.

Nah I thought the car looked crap they took away the classy look, it was a cheap job... the US show puts alot of money into the cars and then gives a few extra's, this show was all just extra's ... it was like heres your car! yeaaaa! Now lets go through the extra stuff we bought u... one by one!

They should have gotten Richard Blackwood he is a prety decent host, he would put a good spin on the show!

I agree totally. The ICE used in the UK version was much inferior to the USA version. Cheapish headunit and CD changer. No mention of MP4 players!!

This is bad enough, but a white guy going on like he's a black rapper and the best thing since sliced bread just pisses me off. He kept calling the girl "babe" and stuff, which seemed a bit creepy, coming from a creep!

Next week they pimp a Golf, nothing new there, move along...

I was in Germany and watched some show where they were just on the street and got people to do weird things in exchange for money (like shave their head, or pour oil on one guys leaather jacket etc.) it was really good (auf deutsch though)!

i think the uk version was sh1t, there trying to hard to be like the us version, i mean they should be more relaxed and use there own words and expressions.
TBH it looked like a home video you would do to play out a program, in the us version they talk to the camera naturaly, i bet in the uk version there is an autocue beside the camera or someone holding those big cards

I think its just a carbon copy of the us one, only with english people and english cars, and whats up with the shop owner, who works with hair like that.

I used to love PMR (US) but after moving out to a new flat I haven't had TV for the last two months- and it's a nightmare trying to get it in. When I do get it back in I was hugely looking forward to catching up on all the versions of Pimp My Ride that I missed. Do they still show the US version over here or is the UK version going to be the only one we can see???

Who the hell is Tim Westwood? - Ali G woulda been funny; possibly the only white guy who could get away with acting like a black guy but I prefer Xzibit myself. Notice btw that Tim's "cool" cars at the start are all US made? Seems a bit of a contradiction to the idea that UK cars can be cool too!

Then there's the cars themselves.. as someone else said, there's just no comparison between a Micra/Golf/Peugeot x06 and a Mustang/Trans Am - hell even their vans are cooler than ours.

And the crew... At least WCC seem to genuinely have a laugh and know what they're doing. I love the bit where they all sit down and throw out ideas (assume this was cut from the clip on the MTV site?). Plus they spend an absolute fortune on the cars - I even remember one where they decided it wasn't possible to salvage this guy's van and bought him a new one and then did THAT up! - can't see MTV UK's budget stretching to that somehow

Think I'll stick with the US version myself...

my friend used to have german tv from astra and yes music videos on first thing in the morning contained porn but all those regular shows like ali g and the whatnot where in english with getman subtitles pmruk sucked total asshole

I watched it again last night too, more from a desire to see what they'd do with the Golf. Westwood is not worthy to be in front of a TV screen, and I expect him to appear in "I'm a Celebrity" in a few years trying to get back into TV, and viewers wondering, who is he?

They did a good enough job of the Golf. I wonder who the Garage is? They all have on PMR teeshirts on, unlike the US one which was obvious WCC.

Also, I wonder how long the Isopon'ed Golf will last before it starts to rot again in British weather...:D

I had heard of him for a while due to his connection with Radio 1 but the first time I'd actually heard him talking was on the Jo Whiley show that used to be on late nights on Channel 4 years ago. And tbh I thought the guy was taking the p1ss.

I think Ali G got his inspiration from him and Armand van Helden.

On the Jo Whiley show he's was banging on about how street he was and when asked about being shot he just went on about him just representing the "Croydon Crew" and that what happens on the street stays on the street innit! or some nonsense like that.
