Recently connected to IBB (1MB) and am interested in knowing how my connection compares with other wireless users. I am more interested in pings and packet loss than upload and download speeds.

    My stats :

    Quiet times
    Pings to mail.eircom.net : avg 45ms (range 40-80)
    Packet loss : 0%
    Download/Upload : 700/800kb/s

    Congested times
    Pings to mail.eircom.net : avg 50ms (range 40-120)
    Packet loss : 3%
    Download/Upload : 600/700kb/s

On the mast I've been on since I got IBB 2meg last week it seems like any time after 7am and before 1am is a congested time.

I get *ok* pings but anywhere between 2% and 16% packet loss at the moment.

Yesterday my upload speed was slower than dial up!

    But they say everything's ok!

Because you have packet loss you can contact IBB to complain. Altho you cant complain about ping times you DO have grounds to complaint and force them to sort out packet loss. Packet loss can can mean a bad LOS, Something breaking the LOS, Fault on mast, fault on your equipment. My mate had this problem with 3% packet loss and they came out the next day and put him on another mast.

Yeah I've raised the issue with them already. It's documented in another thread and I'm waiting to see how things pan out now before updating it.
