Here's a link to a workaround for ASE that means you don't have to write IP adresses down anymore.

    Download and install BF2_Connector.v1.0.rar.

Now when your playing BF2 you just Alt-Tab back to ASE and select a server to connect to. Now go back to BF2 and hit the normal button to add a server IP but type 'BF2' instead.

It's not complete but It's a whole lot better than trying to remember IP addresses.

It's now possible to connect to BF2 using All Seeing Eye.

Either wait until ASE update their version of the software or just the filter file found here :

I just got a PM asking me to explain what ASE actually is so....

It's a little program from Yahoo! that lists all BF2 servers. You can filter then my size, map, ping...basically more filters than the ingame browser of BF2 offers. Also when you click on a server you can see who's playing on it. When you see one you like, just click on the server to connect to it.

Xfire is another such program but 100% free (Yahoo! charges for the ability to search for friends).

xFire seemed to be working last nite gave me the option to join Berns but just really started BF2....let me log in and then dumped to main screen....no info or connection to server.....is ASE the same or will it open BF2 and join the server or do you need ot have BF2 open and running and then use ASE?????

By the way for ASE newbie it is class for picking up server!! 100 times better than BF own program!!!

At the moment ASE doesnt have support to join you into a game immediatly. Its just the way that BF2 was setup. Afaik, they are fixing it so you can use other browsers.

I find that the patch has possibly broke the filter for the ingame menu as I cant seem to get it to list any of the three tig servers anymore :/ However I have the ip either written down or on an irc channel in a second monitor for me.

At least with ASE i can see how full the servers are before I try and join them.

I have all the IP's from teh Irish server on a print out and stuck beside PC....handy or geeky I dont know.....also any good ranked server I have found so far I just jot down the IP onto a piece of paper....will try all of them before I try the nightmare BF2 system.....

Oh yeah does ASE allow you to take away unranked servers? like the BF2 one is supposed to but doesnt half the time!!

If you replace the filters.txt file in your ASE dir with the one from the link, you can connect to BF2 games from ASE, it worked for me last night joining TiG :D:D

Yes you can filter out the unranked ones.

For those who write down the Ip addresses, I posted a solution earlier how you can add the server addresses to your HOSTS file like :

    82.195.149.49 TIG

and then ingame when you hit the 'connect to IP' button, you don't have to remember the IP address, just type TIG.

I have this in my file :

    193.120.123.133 IOL
    195.62.10.170 NRG
    83.142.49.9 ASCII
    82.71.218.99 GFF

this is what i did to get ase working with bf2
you no longer need bf2 connector thanks to the new patch

you have to get the new filter file for ase
    http://www.atgig.com/Fizban30/filters.txt
put that in the main ase dir

    then go to
    Battlefield 2\mods\bf2
    and rename the movies folder
this stops the anoying startup screens

then in ase search for servers
click the one you want to join
bf2 will start and you just click login and it will join the serer you selected
