Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Folks want wireless at home. Anyways they have broadband (UTV). Can anyone reccomend a Wireless router / broadband modem ? Ideally a combo so no foostering has to be done.

Would anyone reccomend those USB wi-fi devices? Or should I go for a PCI card?

One of the computers they'd like networked is a old 600mhz dell with windows 98. Can anyone reccomend some hardware for that?

Is security built in ? E.g what must be done to ensure that random user A with a wireless card cannot either A) Log into the network or B) Use the internet connection.

    Thanks.

Get any mix of cards. they will all work.
I would reccommend some PCI cards if the machines are desktops however.
128bit WEP is built in, which means that noone can get in unless they crack your WEP key. This is a lot harder than people make it out to be. Linux, a good set of tools and some knowledge are required to do this, so 99.9% of people just wont bother.

Tbh, any wireless router will do the job. D-link, lynksis are both good value for preformance, money-wise.

Is it a standard thing for the router to act as a BB modem as well or sould I double check?
