can you give me an example of what wouldnt fit into humanities?

we avoided a "politics" board for a similar reason to why we avoided "sex" and "religion". We thought "humanities" would be a good title for it without setting off the loonies.

    current affairs/news
Anyway, as i take the purpose of humanities, it isnt about current events and whats on the news, its about deeper issues.
    /me shrugs.
At the end of the day if you dont want it's not a huge issue.

IMO,humanities is fine for these matters. Lots of curent affairs are discussed there, and yes, some deeper moral/spiritual/ethical matters are discussed too.Start the current affairs flood smile.gif

sorry, to bump this issue again, but if ur not going to add a new board, how about a poll. i've seen a mod somewhere, that allows a poll to be attached to a topic. only members can vote, and they can only vote once.

it sits up on topof the topic accross the screen, and allows a see current results option aswell.

    what d'ya think?

heheh amp, you are a sarcy kunt wink.gif

If anyone can locate that UBB poll hack let me know.

Humanities would definitely be the place for Current Affairs and News etc.
Feel free to discuss politics etc, but be warned Humanities is the preserve of Castor Troy who is supported in his No Muppet regime by the admins.

Devore : there is your poll script.

i would also say that version 6 is a tad bit better than this. runs a bit faster and can handle bigger threads easier . but maybe your renewal fee has expired . i don't know.

    There worried bout security options.
Newest v of vbulletin is nice but then they have to buy a licence off them.

Any chance of a link to it from the home page or from the menu @ the top of the inner pages?

So will news / current affairs be split off from Humanitites?

I could see that being an acceptible split (on having reviewed the board recently).
I'll talk with the other admins when I'm back from the states (and have left blessed broadband behind... *sniff*)

I think humanities is fine as it is, isn't getting overflowed with posts.. It's steady.
