Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I'm trying to set it up so that if someone connects to my wireless router
they're presented with a webpage telling them about the service and an
    option to give a username/password.

Do I need special hardware to do this, or can any wireless router/access point
do it with the right configuration??

    Hey,

your talking about "captive portal". There is a website out there that does it, I'll have a look and get back to you. Access point wise there is the Zyxel 4100 but its pricey circa 700euro. Do a google on hotspot controllers. Do you own the premises? I could help set it up if you were interested.

    Regards

    Paul

Thats an incredibly insecure way to do it TBH. Google for NoCat Auth and Stockholmopen.Net

They require a bit of setup but both will do the job.

Sorry, been away for a couple of days. Thanks for the suggestions.
Security isn't a huge imperative but its probably rules out the captive
portal. The fact thats its a commericial venture rules out the ZoneCD.
    I'll have a search for stockholmopen.net later when I get a chance.

Its not a thing where we own a premises or not. It was based on
another one of the bosses "great ideas" as to how we can improve
what we do without thinking through the consequences or difficulties
involved, so if it was to be used it would be used on our customers
    premises rather than our own.

    Thanks again....

Wouldn't be hard to build your own system. Apahce, MySQL, PHP and IPTables and your laughing.
