Here's a really basic question from a newbie.

Can anyone tell me how the music industry works? As in, if a CD retails at €13.99 how much does the retailer/artist/record company/label get.

What is the difference between a record company like say Universal and a label like say Dolphin Records (to choose a really crap example) in terms of what each does?

    any enlightenment much appreciated!
