Hi. I know these books are for kids or the 9-12 year old category but I want to know did any of you ever read them. I read them at that age and thought they were brilliant. I sorta wanted to discuss them but I don't know anybody else who has given the 5 of them a go. Well what was the best one. I have to say I loved the first one the most. Hated the last one because I didn't want the series to end. It was good but without Lerntoiski(SPL?) it wasn't the same. S.K.U.N.K and the the splitting earth would have to be my second least favourite although it is also excellant. Did this author write any other books because I never came across any but the S.K.U.N.K series. Also without checking can anybody remember what S.K.U.N.K actually stood for?

I read them when I was younger. I loved them at the time and though I remember thinking they were fantastic, I don't remember anything much about them (well not enough to discuss them anyway). I know I still have them lying around somewhere. I'll try and locate them and find out what S.K.U.N.K. stood for. It's annoying me now...!

I read two of them, I think they were called 'SKUNK and the Ozone Conspiracy' and 'SKUNK and the Freak Flood Fiasco' (nice alliteration!) I can't for the life of me remember what SKUNK stood for though, it may have been something in Russian that translated badly?

ooh, I remember those. I had one or two(ozone conspiracy and freak flood fiasco sound familiar)... I recall I disliked the heroine though, which could explain why I didn't read that many...

    Yeah the 5 were

    The ozone conspiracy
    The splitting earth
    The nuclear waste plot
    freak flood fiasco
    the bride of Dracula

    The Bride of Dracula!!!?

I thought I had read them all, but obviously not. I have Nuclear Waste Plot signed by the lady herself, she still worked in Book Stop at the time (maybe she still does).

I loved the books to bits, them and the Hennessy series were my favourite books at the time. But I don't remember them much.

How old is she? What book shop is this? You didn't miss much in the bride of dracula but it is the conclusion to the whole series.

Craziness! Someone else remembers them! :) I definitely read ozone conspiracy, splitting earth and freak flood fiasco. I've still got the last one at home somewhere. :D I loved the cat. And the grouchy old man and the baddies. Who were very bad indeed.

She worked in Book Stop in Dun Laoghaire, it's been ages since i met her (I was in buying the book with my mammy) I would estimate her age then as mid forties, so i guess mid fifties now. She's probably still there.

I can verify that she was still there last year anyway. Isn't Book Stop a Dubray Books shop now though? I heard it was taken over

I've got S.K.U.N.K. and the Nuclear Waste Plot in front of me. I had to go through boxes in the garage to find it. Looks like I'm going to have to read it to find out what S.K.U.N.K. stands for. It's givng nothing away on the back...

Nobody's remembered what SKUNK stands for yet? I'd go check but I have absolutely no idea where my copies of the books are

Oh come on, it was about 10 years ago that I read them. I can't be expected to remember that!

I still haven't looked it up yet...I'll get right on it!

Don't worry, I can't remember either - I just want someone to look it up because without the books I am powerless, and it is really annoying me!

She's only written books for younger children, apart from the S.K.U.N.K. series, I think...

Aha! I dug out 'SKUNK and the Freak Flood Fiasco' and on page 29 it says
"S.K.U.N.K., not skunks," Aisling corrected him. "They're a gang of thugs who keep trying to blackmail the world. My godfather says the letter stand for Skulduggery, Killing, Unscrupulousness, Nastiness and Corruption, only it's in some foreign language, so the spelling is different"
However, a couple of pages on it transpires that the same group is using that acronym to stand for 'Schliemanns Kasino und Naturpark Konstruktion'

No, she's written books for teenagers well - I read one called 'The Door' which is about a transition year newspaper, and there's another one called 'Circling the Triangle' that I never got round to reading

Was cleaning out a very old bookshelf in out sitting room the other day, and came across my old copy of SKUNK and the Ozone Conspiracy - loved those books when I was young! Read the first four back when I was a young one and decided I wanted to go off on secret missions like them when I grew up :) Had a re-read of the Ozone Conspiracy again last night and it was entertaining as ever!

Ah classic. I'd almost completely forgotten about those books. I read two or three of them when I was a kid. Loved them at the time and I'd love to come across a copy now and check it out. :)
