Cannot grow carrots

    Hi all. Six years gardening, growing the usuals for the kitchen but I always have major difficulty with carrots. Wonder if anyone has had this problem and overcome it?

    Strange one...what happens to them ?? is it that they just don't grow at all ? or do they deform when growing ??

    There are many varieties now to combat root fly & diseases, so there could be a way round.

    Also, carrots don't like growing in the same soil year after year, so worth trying a different spot, or buy a deep container - a water butt is good & top fill it with good soil, they grow well like that.

    Give us a bit more detail of the problems if you get a moment & I'll try to help some more.

    You need to grow them in a loose soil and sand mix.
    Clay and earth that is too compacted it too hard for them to grow down into.
