Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. Hard to explain, as there are no lyrics (that I know of), but the theme from The Mission makes me sadder than any other music.

Depressing ? Well is there a difference between emotional and depressing because Jeff Buckley - Hallelulamewatchacallit would bring a lot of people to tears. Depressing could just be listening to some slipknot ****e and oooghh , I wish I was dead...

The Mission = Gabriels Oboe? ... fairly sombre alright, nice piece of music .. but i cant help thinking of British Airways any time I hear it!!! ... Johnny Cash - Hurt is the lowest of the low though

Havn't read through all the songs here but here are few I could think of.

Nirvana - Where did you sleep last night (from unplugged)
    Coldplay - The Scientist
    Radiohead - Karma Police
Queen - Love Of My Life (live version)
    Dido - Here with me
    Sinead O'Connor - Nothing Compares
Anything from Kid A and Amnesiac

Oo, the mention of The Mission reminds me; Addagio for strings is a beautiful sad piece.

    Yup. Quality tune allright.

There's a much more emotional (though not necessarily depressing) song on that album: Ave Maria Guarani. It's that kids choir singing Ave Maria. Puts a chill down my spine each time.

    Cheesy but depressing:
    Sarah McLoughlin - Angel

Verve - Drugs don't work too...

Most depressing song I've ever heard is 'Suffer Little Children' by The Smiths - written about the Moors murders:

"But this is no easy ride, for a child cries:
Oh, find me, find me, nothing more
Way out on a sullen misty moor.
We may be dead, and we may be gone,
but we will be, we will be,
we will be right by your side,
until the day you die, this is no easy ride"

Worst part is where the sound of the mothers' sobbing comes into the song at the end.

Anything Coldplay ever inflicted on the world. Hearing them makes me wish that God would just stop faffing about and just get on with Armageddon.

Eric Clapton - Tears in Heaven.
    Heart wrenching stuff.

Gary Jules' version of Mad World isn't exactly happy-go-lucky.

Aye, but I'd call it emotional rather than depressing
