Over the rainbow - Eva Cassiddy
Fields of gold - Eva Cassiddy

A few people have said Andrea Bocelli - It's Time To Say Goodbye.
That's actually called Con Te Partiro.
Just thought I'd point that out (I know, I know, pedantic as hell... :D )

That's a class tune though. How about something by My Dying Bride? Maybe "Sear Me" or "Two Winters Only".

Unbreak my heart - Toni Braxton.

The Backstreet Boy's new song Incomplete is very depressing....taking away the fact that it's them (depressing enough I know!) the words are very depressing. It's a very sad song, makes me lonely :(

I find Girl Boy Song by Aphex Twin both depressing and exciting. It's hard to find a truely depressing song, but, as one poster pointed out, Johnny Cash's version of Hurt did a good job.

And Samskeyti by Sigur Ros. Same deal as Girl Boy Song.

    Those are pretty moving IMO

the smiths often get unfairly categorised as depressing when their music is full of humour

nonetheless I'm going to nominate "asleep" by the smiths which is about (yes!) suicide

    "Sing me to sleep
    Sing me to sleep
    And then leave me alone
Don't try to wake me in the morning
    'Cause I will be gone
    Don't feel bad for me
    I want you to know
Deep in the cell of my heart
I will feel so glad to go"

    Damien Rice - Cannonball
    Radiohead - Creep / High & Dry
    Smashing Pumpkins - Disarm
    Greenday - When September Ends
    James Blunt - You're Beautiful
    Johnny Cash - Hurt

    I love depressing songs tho.

Ever realise that most sad / depressing songs are sung by male singers?

Yeah, I find Pieces of You one of those that my parents like to describe as a "song-to-shoot-yourself-by". But I like depressing songs, so therefore I like Jewel.

Suicide is painless, the original one not the Manics cover, that was used for the M*A*S*H theme song (The original film, not the series). Probably been mentioned but I'm not arsed looking through all 6 pages.
