Went in to Mr Calcualtor the other day just out of curiosity.

There was an old indian-looking guy (Mr Calculator?) there. What a complete tosser! He has to be the rudest person I have ever seen in a shop in Dublin. The entire time I talked to him he didn't look at me and showed no interest in what I was looking for. I asked him if he had two different things, both times, without looking at me he simply mumbled "no".

Couple that with the fact that they don't have prices on display for most items - I have no idea how they are in business. It really felt like those dodgy electronics shops like in the Canaries where they sell you a dsicman for €30 but you have to pay another €30 for the hedphones etc.

Its utterly astounding. I'm also a bit baffled by why a city the size of dublin doesn't seem to be able to cater for any specialist gaming shops (ie import / retro gaming).

Mr Calculator is an enigma. How it stays running in the face of
    1. Grossly inflated prices
    2. Crap stock
    3. The rudest man on the face of the earth
is just baffling to me. I can understand how it managed before the internet - it was the only place you could get *any* import games. But now? I just don't know. Maybe it's a front for the IRA.

I once bought a USB device there and when it didn't work and I brought it back, he hurled abuse at me and said that it is his mechanics that decide whether or not the device was broken.

I eventually threatened to bring him to the small claims court and it was only then that he gave me a full refund.

I fully agree with you, the man is weird and be careful if you ask to try something out there

On the lighter note Back From The Future on Angier Street sells similar products and the guy there Colin is very sound and helpful

Whereabouts on Angier Street is Back from the Future? What kind of stuff do they sell?

well he may be rude and have replied "NO" both times but he would know his own stock tbh.

yep,he's an asshole. Some people are stupid enough to buy things from there at his prices, so i presume it will always be open.

I think it's the only place in Dublin you can walk into and buy a psp off the shelf at the moment, anyone know how much he's charging for them though?

Back from the future is a place that sells gadgets and computers. It is located just at the intersection between Stephen Street and Aungier Street

    Yes, he is a K**B!!

The PSPs are now 'reduced' to €380....what a rip-off

He is charging €70 for PSP games......

I bought a Lithium battery from him a while back (€10), only to find out that I can get them online for €3.50.....

I have bought stuff from him in the past, but with the WWW there is now no need.

There is another tool that works in there, who is more helpful, but still......

Avoid the shop at all costs, hope he goes out of business and dies.

We need to stamp this type of **** out

I bought my first gameboy there because it was the only place in the whole of dublin that stocked them at the time. Hmv still only sold records and Game didn't exist.

He was a lot less grumpy when I visited his shop recently to get a replacement stylus for my Clié but I'm a lot older than I was back buying that GB, which leads me to believe that he just hates teenagers, and why not, they can be terribly irritating at times.

that's exactly the service he provides....at a premium. Where else can you find a PSP for sale in a shop in dublin. He's a rip off but he sells stuff that you can't get in the shops anywhere else and some people just prefer to get stuff in a shop (even at his prices) than buy online.

    Hahaha....

I remember that indian guy, hes been there for years. Back when they had super street fighter 2 for the snes and he was trying to flog me a copy for 90 quid irish at the time.

Or when the ps2 was first released in japan and he quoted me "at least 1200 (irish) for that, if i can even get you one", or 650 USD from ncsx with a game.
