Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

No problem here (IE 5.5 too).
You haven't recently installed any browser plugins or add-ons lately, Google Toolbar, I've heard that can wreak havoc.

No nothing new.. strange.. it crashes on both my 2k box and XP box.
Usually when I click the link to a new forum then click on the page before it's loaded fully.

yep does that to me a lot.

Either it crashes, or the window just disappears.

I'm guessing it's something to do with the drop down menus and pressing back/forwards or links while it's running.

Also your new adverts are a bit strange. I get a gray box before the picture appears. That normally means applet?

I can reproduce the crash on tap with three seperate machines here.. while switching to a diff forum keep clicking the white space on the page.

A man walks into the doctors and says
"Doctor, my arm hurts when I contort it like this..." <does weird movement>

so the doctor says "Then dont do that!".

um, I dunno if there is much I can do to solve this problem. I cant recreate it, and even if we could, I doubt its anything in our code alone (more likely version differences in windows betweem us). Even if we did recreate it, its probably an IE bug then a html/javascript bug.

Can you describe exactly how you crash your machine?

I used to have this problem too, it's reproducible by either: a) clicking a link before a page has fully loaded; or b) opening several windows at once. I'm inclinded to think it's a problem with the cookie handler rather anything else, i.e. it's trying to set and get two cookies at the same time and getting confused.

I'm really only adding to the confusion here but I have had IE5.5 windows freeze on me when they've been rendering thread pages in the background, partially covered by the active IE window. I can't get these windows to the foreground and I can't close them without a ctrl-alt-del and killing IE.

    The following things may happen.

    1. You get a page can't be displayed error, or the page comes in corrupted. Which is normally a warning sign it's going to crash.

    2. The window just closes. No error message, no nothing.

    3. IE crashes with a core dump. I'll email you the core dump next time it happens at home.

I run multiple windows at the same time, so it's possible dahamsta is pointing at the correct problem.

Boards kills Netscape 4.76 on me quite a bit.. I'm not in a position to upgrade which is unfortunate.

Ditto on both those points, I used to browse with 5 or 6 windows on boards, that's may well be the problem, though it crashs with only one window quite a bit for other Netscape reasons.

Boards never crashes my IE 5.5 on 98 se. What does happen tho is cookies seem to have a mind of thier own so id echo the cookie problem assertion.
I usually start from after hours and work my way down selected forums, but halfway down of reading and hitting back, the cookies reset and all the lightbulbs go out frown.gif

I would also like to add that the cookies do not work properly with Konqueror.

I have the boards.ie cookies enabled, I can even view the content but the page does not update with the information.
