Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

or that what it seems like.

have her almost 2 years now. Runs fine when she runs but for the last number of months, it's been turning off at random.

when I say turn off, i mean no BSOD, no warning [most of the time :: lately I'll see the movie or music stutter a bit before it turns off]

the warrenty was up last year but I got the 3 year insurance cover on it.

Courier is coming to pick up the lappy for repair transport this morning [I hope]

pc_world support guy said 7-10 working days repair and should be easy to repair cos it does sound like OH prop.

I even have the lappy propped up 2" at the back for airflow but still turns off.

As much as I love the lappy and the handiness of it, with the cash back from it I could get a lethal desktop which I'd prefer.

What I want to know is can I get cash back if the lappy comes back and the problem persists?

Can I insist on my cash back if pcw only give credit notes?

They will give you Dixon Group vouchers that can be spent in Dixons, Currys or Pc World.. You will not get a cheque..

I think what they do is give you a voucher for something of similar spec's, whether it be a laptop or desktop is up to you. afaik.

If you are offered a credit note you do not have to accept it. According to Consumer Laws & Rights you are entitled to a FULL refund if the product is faulty and does not meet it's intended expectations.

    KNOW YOUR RIGHTS!!!

Scroll down to the heading:- "We'll give you a credit note"

All the information you need should be found in that link. Hope it helps.

Also watch out for the old chesnut that shops give...

    We don't give refunds

Stores cannot simply say they do not give refunds. Under the Sale of Goods Act, you are entitled to a refund, a replacement or a repair if a product is not of merchantable quality, fit for its purpose or as described. A retailer cannot take away those rights.
    :D

I'm sure a company as big as dixons group will also know this soundman and im assuming its in the terms and conditions when buying the extra insurance that you can only get credit in store.

Yes but what I am saying is that irrespective of their fine print, no company is allowed to say that you can only have a credit note instead of a refund. Full cash refunds are a given right. According to the Sale of Goods and Supply of Services Act 1980.
