Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

It will die a death once Utd fans realise that its going to take at least 10 years for them to be in the premiership, not that there going that way

yup , it won't get the same support as FC Wimbledon either as they actually had a proper reason for starting a new club where as FC United don't , they just wanted their own team and thought that by associating it with anti Glazier-ness they would get former Man United fans .

I too would actually like United to meet them in the FA Cup............and win by a cricket score .

LOL, I dont think anyone involved is even thinking of the premiership to be honest. There was a club meeting on the 5th, the jist of it was posted on www.redcafe.net. Snipped:
Money raised so far just over 100,000
The manager is confident of promotion and is building a squad capable of Ryman league, he has players that have dropped upto 4 divisions to play for us. Also the manager is making sure that all the players know what the team is about and if they are not committed to that, then there is no place for them here.

Fair play to them, at least they're doing something about their disaffection rather than just bitching about things at United.

Good luck to them, it could be intersting to see how far they get but the fact that it is based on anti-glazierism what will happen in a couple of years when the hate for glazier dies and the adrenelin runs out.

Hmm interesting point, presuming then that glazer doesn’t run the club into the ground yadayadayadayada....?

that is not quite accurate, a vast proportion of the fans involved with FC United are not in it purely for the anti-glazer effect. many are simply fed up with the extortionate prices, commercialisation and media prostitution that has swallowed the 'beautiful' game. I can't see those reasons disappearing.

Any word on when staunch anti-Glazerist Solskjaar is signing for them?

Or has he learned to keep his mouth shut when the hand that feeds it is nearby?

If you read the real united fans forums then you will see that commercialisation has nothing to do with it. There is a serious sense of hate towards Glazier after his take over and that is also beginning to be aimed towards Sir Alex and the players.

As a life long United supporter I do not agree with what has / is happening to United but at the same time I have a lot more going on in my life than to spend the time that some of the Ex-United fans have with the anti-glazier campaigns

Came out like and spoke against the takeover a few months ago.

FC United is a distraction, most United fans will remain United fans. The Club is still the club the issue of the ownership is now resolved.
This cna and probably will chage again some time in the future when the values rises sufficiently the Glazers will sell, that could be 5, 10, 15 or 20 years but it will happen at some point.
If the club is doing well at the time will we have a "please don't sell campaign", Proabaly but fans will still be fans.

That's not quite true. Some of the quotes I've read on redcafe.net, people mention that it'll be great to be able to stand on a terrace again, be able to be beside their mates again, be able to chant what they want again and pay less for the privalge.

So it's unfair to say that commercialisation has nothing to do with it and it's all to do with Glazer's takeover because that's tarring everyone with the same brush.

Good Luck to the lads on FC United and I would love to see a clash in the FA Cup.

Wow, I sound like a serious journalist trying to think of an article.
    COOL!! :D

So yop do you still stand by your comment that over commercialisation of United has nothing to do with the new club being set up and it's all about Glazer's takeover?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,479 ✭✭✭wheres me jumpa

best of luck to them. i will be keeping an eye on them. i would love a shirt but i guess they wont be selling them as thats too "commercial"!

also it will be interesting to see how great the support would be if united came out and won major competitions this season.

Are you not allowed sit beside your mate in old trafford? Stupid reasons(i know there not yours).

COmmercialisation has VERY little to do with it. Its nearly all down to anti-galzier feeling.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,479 ✭✭✭wheres me jumpa

well the fact that the team would not have been set up had glazer not arrived says it all.

If you and your mates get tickets seperately for whatever reason then no, you can't sit beside them because everyone is assigned a seat number so they could be in the North Stand, you could be in the South etc. That doesn't happen at the lower league grounds that FCUM will be playing at obviously.

IMO the Glazer thing was the straw that broke the camels back but there was plenty of other stuff over the past few years that has been pissing off the hardcore fans. The takeover was the push they wanted/needed to form their own club but not the only reason.

Am I the only one that wants this club to fail because of the stupid 'reasons' they had to create a new club ?

Speaking as a United fan it doesn't bother me enough to want them to fail to be honest.

So yop do you still stand by your comment that over commercialisation of United has nothing to do with the new club being set up and it's all about Glazer's takeover?

Of course I stand by it, commercialisation has long been part of United, toothbrushes, tomatoe sauce etc etc etc, the if commercialisation was a big reason for FC United to be born then it would have happened a long time before this.

Have a look at the FC United website and you will find that
"the concept of FC United, formed by Red Devils supporters disillusioned with Malcolm Glazer's takeover of the Old Trafford club."

Can you go to Croke Park or Landsdown and if you end up on the stands sit where you want, no you cannot, Old Trafford is no different to any large stadium in the world.

IMO the Galzer takeover was part of the issue - the straw that broke the camels back but most certainly thre ONLY reason.

What the Glazier takeover was their only reason for setting up FC United

Not everyone agrees with you (and i am sure most of the FC United supporters don't)

    Accept it and move on.
