We will be going on holiday to Spain in September for week and we will be bringing our 3 month old daughter with is. The problem is whether to use the local water or bottled?.

I would have thought bottled, but it say on the side of tin not to? ( we are using SMA if that matters ). Does anybody have any experience of this?.

Another question.... does anybody know of any travel bottle sterilizers kit thingies, or any suggestions on how to handle sterilzing bottles whilst on hols?

    Thank for your help

Evian still water is ok to make up babies bottles, you can buy a travel sterelizer, babytec is the make, try boots, its very small and compact. You can also get cold water sterelizer bags in mothercare that are good too.

Hi, only use bottled water and the important thing to check is the sodium (salt) content on the side of the bottle ("sodio" in Spanish) it should be between 5 and 10 no higher than 10 anyway. Some are really high in sodium and should be avoided. Doesn't matter what formula you are using - have a great holiday! :)

While there is no standardised symbol, many brands of bottled water that are suitable for use in making up baby formula have a picture of a baby bottle or something similar on the label. Some that are not suitable have a similar picture with an X or a prohibited sign ⃠.

Brands of water that are suitable are more common in many countries (here we tend to want mineral water if we're going to pay for water, and it's the mineral content - particularly sodium as matwijow says - that makes some brands of bottled water unsuitable).
