AS the title says what book would ye recommend for a beginner/intermediate user to PHP. Id like something simple to understand yet also goes through the more powerfull aspects of PHP too. Explanations of MySQL would also be great and in fact essential.

There are loads of books out there that claim to do this but what one would ye recommend to me.

    Luke Welling, Laura Thomson
there's a third out there now.

I haven't read that particular book, but I do tend to stick to Sams (or O'Reilly) series myself, they're usually good. I particularly like the 'Teach yourself [insert subject here] in 21 days' range.

I learened PHP from "Programme PHP" AFAIK by o'reilly. O'Reilly books are usually very good. It includes a chapter on databases. Combine it with the php online docs and you're grand.

Sams Teach Yourself PHP in 24 hours isn't bad - but its got a few oversights and doesn't really explain sessions very well. It also doesn't go very deep into SQL...
