    Folks,

    Hope this is the correct forum for this type of thing. I'm looking for Unix training for a non-newbie. To know what I mean here is a copy of a message I posted to linux.ie/

    <begin>

    I've looked around Dublin at the various Unix training courses on offer in Dublin and I've come to the following conclusion.
    They all seem to have the following characteristics:
    C1: Price range of 700 - 2500
    C2: 1 day - 5 day
    C3: Not in the evening or weekend
    C4: Some sort of nice training room etc...
    C5: Organised by some company or other
    C6: Prob. a certificate at the end (memories of Dilbert's "I summon the vast power of Certification" come to mind)

    Now that's fine and dandy but I have a number of small issues.
    I1: It's way out of my price range
    I2: It's way out of my time range

    I'm surprised that I havn't been able to find someboby offering a less professional, less expensive, but just as good service for members of the public. I reckon there is a definite market here [of about 1 smile.gif]
    Anyway my point is: does anybody know of any 'organisation' or 'person' fulfilling this vacuum in the Dublin area?

    <end>

    One other person has contacted me expressing an interest in this model. So there is now a market of 2.
    My question is: can anyone help?

    Al.

    "Your ideas are intriguing to me and I wish to subscribe to your newsletter."

    Any over-priced, paid-by-company, 5-day training(holiday) has turned out to be a big waste of time. Thats not to say there aren't good courses out there, just that I haven't been to one.
    Maybe you could try somwhere like Griffith College. I know they do Night Courses in C/C++, Java for 12 weeks for around £300 which is pretty good value.
    I don't think they have any UNIX modules but I might enquire, maybe if enough people did they would look into introducing one.
