My friend and I were happly walking down the street with our skateboards and 4 guys in a car start swearing at us, we continued to walk and they followed us. They got out and grabbed our board, which wasn't even ours. Was a friends and then they walk to their car with it and put it in. We asked for it back several times but no luck, we stood behind their big green subaru and they started to reverse attempting to smash us up against another car. Then they blamed by friend for a mark on their spoiler and that we have to pay for it. It was already there before the incident. They started to threaten to call up to our house if we didn't take a few punches from them. To hell with that like.
I told my friend to leave it, we phoned the gaurds. They knew we were doing this and when they noticed we were phoning them they said "Ah lads can ye take a joke etc etc." Then they drove after us and put the board out on the street, we left it there and then a guy gets out of the car picks it up and hands it to us. They became scared. We didn't see them circling the street for ages after that. Thats all they do, go around the street in circles trying to pick up ~14 year old girls.
I'm red sick of this sh*t. We can't walk anywhere without people saying "puh skaters" etc etc. I'm so sick of this.
People treat us as if we evil. Its especially the middle aged adults that complain.

I think most skaters get this crap, do the rest of ye?

Edit: ok 11 years was a bit too young, but def have 14 year olds

I used to skate and sure you get a bit of abuse, but I never got something like that! Try skate in different areas, and next time you ring the gards, make sure those scumbags can't see you!

ok this one maybe be a bit long. i have longish hair (previously mo-hawks half heads and many colours) arseholes in cars have regularly pulled up to give me abuse and even more have driven past shouting things normally i've only heard "hip" or "pee" sometimes "free" or eek" and the worst i was going down Aideen Avenue when a car FULL of scangers swerve's at me just after i've turned and shout at me and swerve ar me some more I take out my lock and chain for securing the bike safley to rails HOnestly officer. when i'm not on the bike. and bring it down on to his roof now if you've been down aideen ave you'll know that there's a t junction and bollards where there used to be a cross road. i shoot up the path and skim between the bollards and pedaled like a freak on speed! Still to this day i hope i never see me again.
Though I do vehimothly hate the pigs Garda have there uses and all in all four grown men were picking on 11 year olds WTF? Personally i would go to the garda station responsible for the area and make a statement. It'll also add to a more skatepark arguement, lots of skaters in one place + an attendant or 2 is much less likely to come under the usual close-minded ****.

One thing that sticks in my noodle from my (brief) skateboarding days is that you have a long plank with big metal bits on either end, there's very few judges in this country who could honestly do an 11 year old for smacking some adult (who was harrassing kids) in the nuts with there board.

i hate these F*ckers im a rocker and a skater and the amount of **** we get i mean abou a month ago i was coming outta a gig with friends and 3 of my friends got headbut and one was seriously bet up and nearly had his nose broke

Miss understood me there probably, i mean they pick up roughly 11 year old girls, (actually 11 is a bit young, probably aged 14) like i see them in their cars and ****. Its discusting for men of their age (~22)
    I'm 19 myself.

Practically ever skater gets this abuse, its crazy

Dial the police and leave the phone in your pocket. Utter the name of the street your on and sound distressed will get the cops there in a flash.

I didn't read the replies but reg number and a phone call to guards would have sorted them out. end of.

    get used to it.

I rollerbladed alot around baggot street bank - the handrails were our main attraction, but the front ledges were skated at night time because black handrails and 12:30am dont mix.

Anyways, the lads were filming out on the front ledge - excellent session, loads of people there, including a few skateboarders (older, respected skaters) about 25 in total everyone getting along as we all had firmilliar faces. Three 15 year old scumbags come up the long road on 2 bikes (the side small handrails leading down to bumzville) to stop and stand on the ledges on which the skateboarders and skaters were sessioning. One of the skateboarders asked the kid to move, as he was in the way and hovering around everyones bags, the kids naturally responded with utter tripe and so on saying how they were gonna bash all 25 of the 17-30 year olds... One of them reached for a bag threw it to a kid on the bike, then ran and jumped on the back of another wile he ****ed off with the bag.

The bag had a 1200 POUND camera and it contained IMYTA footage (a big street comp in france) which they were doing to use in the new edit. So they got away, and the guy who lost the camera was a good mate of mine, had to wait around the bank for the police. If only they would come on time...

The skateboarders decided it was late and headed off for bed
30 minz after the event, and minus 7 skateboarders, 30 full grown windowlicking bottom of the bucket scumbags come running up the road
by the time they got to us there were 2 chaps who just reached their bags last who became surrounded by scum. All of us who got away could only pray the lads were gonna be alright, and all 12 or so of us all on the mobiles to the police SCREAMING down the phone for them to get to the bank.

In the distance we heard a police car coming our way, it took them 1 minute to respond. The scum scattered to reveal one of the lads lying face first on the ground unconcious (spelling) and the other screaming in pain with one leg broke at the shin and his left collar-bone in tatters. I was the first to get away, and also the first back to check on the lads, i made another frantic call, but stated everything they needed to know. The lads catch up with me..

We stood around scared ****less as we saw them upclose surrounded by the 2 police officers, who screamed down the radio for an ambulance, which arrived VERY swiftly to escort the 2 lads to the hospital.

Count yourself lucky they were pus$ies after a giggle because you hav'nt experienced jack.

I have another long winded story which im sure tack will remember, as i think he was at the cork jam while i was and at the scene aswell with me.

ps, they took a crow bar to the back of the head of my mate, who now has a plate in his head and a crowbar to my other mates leg and shoulder.

Red Ice, I think I might have seen that happening. Myself and a buddy drove up to Baggot one Sunday night about 8pm and saw a full-on session in progress, which was good as that meant no security. We parked on the other side of the street and were about to get out of the car when everybody started running away from the ATM ledge. Cops we thought. Turns out there was a skip full of construction debris around the back of the BoI plaza which provided a ****load of weaponry for these guys. As you said the law showed up pretty quick, but I'd no idea till now that they'd done that sort of damage to your mates. One of the gougers in question had a steel bar and just flung it to the curb and the cops never even saw it.

One thing I've noticed is that it's always younger or smaller kids who get jumped and once they know that you're scared, you're ****ed. If I see a bunch of gougers anywhere, I'll always go past them with the attitude if they start on me, they're going to get hurt. A confident, almost defiant attitude right from the start means that most situations never even start I find. skangers will always gang up on 2 or 3 people, or the smallest/weakest who strays from the group. It's a human instinct thing that they can pick up on fear, low confidence and self esteem and they'll always try go for people like that. Mousing out of a confrontation incase you'll get in trouble (i know people who think like that) or you might get a shiner is bollocks. Do that and they've already won and will continue to do it because they think they can get away with it. Give as good as you get and intimidate them, because most of the time in my experience, teenage scumbags are all talk. I know it's easier said than done, but carrying yourself with confidence and self-assuredness will, more often than not, prevent most incidents because the gougers know that you'll fight back. However, with something like you describe above, there's nothing you can do, especially on rollerblades as you can't use it as a weapon like you can with a board. Just handling my board in a vaguely threatening manner or even tapping the tail off the ground makes them think twice. Granted, rollerblades make for a faster getaway!

I surf a lot, so I feel some sort of affinity with skaters.

When I lived in Oz, I lived with a bunch of good skaters - they never saw hassle, apart from the usual stuff from the police and security guards moving them on.

But this is just a typical thing with Ireland, particularly Dublin - unless you follow the usual interests - soccer and drink, it's almost like you're considered an outcast (I'm exaggerating slightly). Fúck it, I'd love to skate, but the stigma associated with an over-30-year-old skater in Ireland would probably result in me getting lynched.

wha?? Is this in Killarney or killorglin or somewhere? Because I don't think I've ever actually seen this go on in Kerry but I've seen it in other places. ****ing sick tbh.
Well done to them for picking up a 12 year old girl ffs.

I think the knackers are the worst. When there are gigs on they hang around outside and try and fight you and punch you and stuff. Dirty smelly inbred ****s.

I'm not a skater myself but I do hang around with a good few skaters.

Yeah I'm in Killarney, I might know you to see but you're name didn't really ring a bell :?

Yeah I kinda know what you mean about boy racers cos the place is full of them but I've hardly ever seen them with 11 year olds, maybe you'd see them with 15 year olds alright.
Those boy racers are really ****ing annoying especially around the time of the rally.

You don't happen to be small steve's cousin do you or am I mixing you up with someone else?
