what oil goes into 99 petrol zetec 1.25 fiesta?

I've been told that the normal 15W-40 oil should not be put into one of these or it'll run through it very quickly and the engine will run dry before you know it....so is a much lighter synthetic oil needed? any bad experiences with these cars as regards their engine?

Correct. We've had our 96 1.25 Zetec for two years and its a little cracker.
