Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    slow processor and slow ram.
youd get a similar dell or acer cheaper,
but it does look nice ;)

The 'M' CPUs have higher performance at a given clock speed than the standard P4/Celerons. 1.6ghz equates roughly to 2.4ghz. Apparently the Celeron M performs quite well compared to the Pentium M but lacks SpeedStep and so will eat the battery more.

If you are not a gamer than any modern CPU is more than fast enough for just about any use; I'm typing this quite happily on a PIII-1.2ghz. I find the Sonys have very good ergonomics, which I think is more important than CPU etc. Looks like a nice machine. I am sure you would get it cheaper online however, Peats is almost never a good deal.

It has integrated graphics, so you can outrule playing any games on it basically.

The RAM from Sony is expensive, but Crucial UK ship 1GB DDR2 PC2-4200 for €130 which works flawlessly ( I did this just a few days ago) and had it over from UK in 36 hrs (!). From Sony, 512MB is around 300 quid.

The screen is just beautiful. If you haven't used X-Black before, you will have a hard time looking at anything else. It really is a thing to behold and the widescreen res makes doc and spreadhseets, browsing, etc., excellent.

For that price, if you don't need 3D games, you will not get a better laptop for web, mp3s, typing, etc., for the money, especially in such a slim unit (it is very very slim).

I bought an FS215 2 weeks ago but the one with 100GB drive and 6200 video card. I returned it to get an a series as I needed to replace my aging desktop but as far as I can tell you won't go wrong.

Sure Dell will give you a CPU with 200MHz extra or something, but like I said, if it's for non-game work, it's just beautiful to work on. No other LCD screens compare to the X-Black, IMHO.
