I didn't know The Life and Death of Peter Sellers was a made for TV movie... what was it doing in the cinema then?

It would have been nice to see Battlestar Galactica get nominated for something... oh well...

There's a lot of tough competition in some of those categories though...

The only one's i'm interested in and what i would like to win in each, highlighted in red:
Outstanding Comedy Series (toughie between AD and Scrubs but AD had the better season)

"Arrested Development" (2003) (fantastic.. and back in September!)
    "Desperate Housewives" (2004)
    "Everybody Loves Raymond" (1996)
    "Scrubs" (2001)
    "Will & Grace" (1998)

    Outstanding Drama Series

    "Deadwood" (2004/I)
"Lost" (2004) (... was looked over last year... really does deserve it this year!)
    "24" (2001)
    "The West Wing" (1999)
    "Six Feet Under" (2001)

    Outstanding Made for Television Movie

    Lackawanna Blues (2005) (TV)
The Life and Death of Peter Sellers (2004)
"The Office" (2001) ("Christmas Special") (Gervais will get this!)
    Warm Springs (2005) (TV)
    The Wool Cap (2004) (TV)

Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series

Jeffrey Tambor for "Arrested Development" (2003) (probably the weakest in AD.. but deserves a couple of wins, if only to help it get another season or two outta Fox)
Peter Boyle for "Everybody Loves Raymond" (1996)
Brad Garrett for "Everybody Loves Raymond" (1996)
Sean Hayes for "Will & Grace" (1998)
    Jeremy Piven for "Entourage" (2004)

Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series (2 "Lost-ie's" nominated.. don't really know why Naveen was nominated. Not particularly a standout in Lost)

Alan Alda for "The West Wing" (1999)
Terry O'Quinn for "Lost" (2004) (Terry's gotta win this!!)
William Shatner for "Boston Legal" (2004)
    Oliver Platt for "Huff" (2004)
    Naveen Andrews for "Lost" (2004)

Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series

Jessica Walter for "Arrested Development" (2003) (always fantastic in AD)
Doris Roberts for "Everybody Loves Raymond" (1996)
Megan Mullally for "Will & Grace" (1998)
Holland Taylor for "Two and a Half Men" (2003)
Conchata Ferrell for "Two and a Half Men" (2003)

Outstanding Animated Program (Less Than One Hour)

"Family Guy" (1999) (FG had a weak season so far but excellent to see it back)
    "Samurai Jack" (2001)
    "The Simpsons" (1989)
    "South Park" (1997)
    "SpongeBob SquarePants" (1999)
EXTREMELY Shocked by no nods for "Veronica Mars" - the show is fantastic but Kristen Bell puts in a fantastic performance week after week in the lead!

And also no nod for Jason Bateman in AD..... very unfair! Actually... now that i look closer, that's a pretty piss-poor list of nominations!

EDIT: Was thinking about Jason Bateman not being nominated and thought it was strange.. and i then realised that there was no "Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series" up there. Read up on it and there is one.. so you must have missed it tvnutz! Would like either Bateman or Braff to win it anyways!
OUTSTANDING LEAD ACTOR IN A COMEDY SERIES
Jason Bateman (Arrested Development) (Bateman probably won't get it two years running though!)
    Ray Romano (Everybody Loves Raymond)
    Tony Shalhoub (Monk)
    Zach Braff (Scrubs)
    Eric McCormack (Will & Grace)
    You also missed these:
OUTSTANDING GUEST ACTOR IN A COMEDY SERIES
    Fred Willard (Everybody Loves Raymond)
    Victor Garber (Will & Grace)
    Jeff Goldblum (Will & Grace)
    Bobby Cannavale (Will & Grace)
    Alec Baldwin (Will & Grace)

OUTSTANDING GUEST ACTRESS IN A COMEDY SERIES
    Kathryn Joosten (Desperate Housewives)
    Lupe Ontiveros (Desperate Housewives)
    Georgia Engel (Everybody Loves Raymond)
Cloris Leachman (Malcolm in the Middle)
    Blythe Danner (Will & Grace)

Like i said.. not a bad season. Just a lot weaker than stuff from Season 3 (and a helluva lot weaker than Seasons 1 and 2). But still one of my favourite shows!

Braff himself excelled in this latest series - the man is a genius at physical comedy and also his direction has been amazing. Particularly the 2nd episode he directed, which was my favourite of the season.

And Veronica Mars is fantastic.. you'll really enjoy it! Beats all that OC and One Tree Hill muck hands down. Itself and 'Lost' definantly have some of the sharpest and cleverest writing in a long time.

    Anyways.. back on topic!

And what's with '24' getting 11 nominations? It's had two very poor seasons. The trouble with the Emmys is they repeatedly nominate the same shows - West Wing, 24, et cetera and leave only about one gap each year for a different show. They're pretty damned predicatable.

3 words... (or 2 words and a symbol, depending on how you look at it!)

    "Will & Grace"

Even TVGuide.com were shocked when they saw "Will & Grace" with all those nominations:

Headline: "Desperate Housewives, Lost and Will & Grace (?!?!) lead Emmy nods."

Article: WISTERIA ROUT: Nominations for the 57th Emmy Awards were announced this morning and, as expected, ABC's Desperate Housewives cleaned up with 15 nods, including best comedy series and bids for leading ladies Marcia Cross, Teri Hatcher and Felicity Huffman. Housewives tied NBC's terminally ill Will & Grace for most nominated series. (No, that wasn't a typo.) ABC's other freshman smash, Lost, scored 12 nods, including best drama series and supporting actors for both Naveen Andrews and Terry O'Quinn. Among the pleasant surprises: long-overdue nominations for NBC's Scrubs and star Zach Braff; supporting nods for The Shield's CCH Pounder and Grey's Anatomy's Sandra Oh; and best-actor nods for Deadwood's [bleepin'] brilliant Ian McShane and House's crabby doc Hugh Laurie. Of course, there were also plenty of glaring omissions, most notably WB's perpetually ignored Gilmore Girls and its star, Lauren Graham. (Note to Emmy voters: Wake the hell up!) Rescue Me's Denis Leary also was denied a nod, as was Lost's Matthew Fox, Veronica Mars' Kristen Bell, the entire supporting cast of Scrubs, 24 scene-stealers Shohreh Aghdashloo and Mary Lynn Rajskub and two of Housewives' best comic assets, Eva Longoria and Nicollette Sheridan.

Best of luck to Jonathon Rhys Meyers, great young Irish actor!

If they're actually going to call DH a comedy (even though as much as I like it it's really not) then Eva Longoria not getting a nom is disgraceful. She takes a completely horrible character and makes her charming, witty and likeable and has ten times more comic timing than the exetremely overrated Teri Hatcher.
Glad to see Lost get a nod, hope Terry O'Quinn gets it, I think he's great. Victor Garber was hilarious on Will and Grace too. Disapointed that Gilmore Girls was snubbed.

DH is more a comedy than it is a drama.

I'd like to see Deadwood and Ian McShane pick up some glory. It really is a fantastic series. For the love of Jeff, it's the only series that Charlie Brooker hasn't slaughtered since the dawn of history.

I think Jeremy Piven could get that one, Entourage is one of the better shows on HBO at the moment - not sure if it's been shown over here yet though.
