What rate of V.A.T. should solicitors charge?

    Hi,does any body know how much a solicitor can charge you in V.A.T. is it different to the norm of 21%???

    No its 21%. Although there are exceptions:

    7 Rates of VAT
    7.1 Almost all services supplied by solicitors are liable to VAT at 21 per cent. The principal exceptions are the following:
    (a) collection of insurance premiums Exempt
    (b) letting of solicitor’s own premises (short-term) Exempt
    (c) services connected with property
    situated outside the State (see paragraph 12.1) 0 per cent
    (d) Fourth Schedule services (see paragraph 13) 0 per cent
    (e) Directors’ fees; Commissioner
    for Oaths fees; Notary Public fees not taxable.
