    timing out on modem????

    Analog?
    Analog modems suck ass basically.
My connection at home does that every 20 minutes or so, my likkle wmppp graph goes blank,
the send led flickers slowly but no receive light to be seen.
Generally lasts about 5 seconds can be more though.
However it can get really bad at times, happening every 2 or 3 minutes seemingly... frown.gif

/me mutters something about remembering to order ISDN

That happens to me too, usually i blame it on my 50-foot cable though, i probly shouldnt have the last 15foot rolled in a coil either wink.gif

Hmm... I've extended the phone line from the hall up to my bedroom, theres also another one going to my parents room.
I wouldn't have thought that would cause such problems though... hrm...

Their webserver is behind a Firewall that's blocking ICMP packets.

I think he was pointing out that the first ip was timing out.. which is strange to say the least. ISP's don't usually block traffic on their pop's either.

Strange alright. Must have just been busy.

Kinda odd that it happens all the time, hardly a DNS timeout, try a tracert -n ?
Though that still shouldn't happen every time...

    /me shrugs

You can configure the routers to not accept ICMP packets as well. It's a very simple way to prevent muppets from trying a DOS attack.
