Probably a stupid question but does anyone out there have their eyebrow pierced and do a martial art? I was just wondering how safe it would be as accidents do happen and i wouldn't fancy the piercing being ripped out and blood everywhere. Any help appreciated. Thanks

My bro did Kickboxing up until he got his eyebrow pierced, I think getting it done was a bad idea.

Regardless of the danger, no tournament will let you spar with any form of jewellery on, so if you;re serious about it, I wouldn't get it done.

i had an ex-boyfriend before who had it done...and it got ripped out...and that was during football...so i don't fancy your chances!

I did martial arts until I started getting piercings. I still miss it.

But boy do I like my piercings.

of course it'll get hit, damaged or pulled out. you wont be able to block every hit. and if you grapple, any piercing you have WILL eventually be ripped out, and it hurts like hell. my advice, take it out before training or don't get pierced.

i do karate, during fighting your not supposed to hit the face, so far i have been kicked, punched and elbowed in the face. i have braces so my cheek was cut up on the inside, and i got a black eye, so a peircing isint a good idea

No jewlery at all is usually allowed during training, so you'd have to take it out

AFAIK the club my brother does tae kwan do with allow people to leave them in.
however - what they do is put masking tape over it so that it
    a) wont rip out
    b) cant accidently hurt the opponant in sparring

Cant see any reason why it cant be worn while doing sports if you tape it down...

during a decent training or sparring session you would normally sweat, a lot, and that might ruin the adhesive on the back of the tape, causing it to come off. and if its an m.a with grappling, tape or no tape, any pierced body part being pressed into the mat is not a good thing for the piercing. and as theres no grappling involved in tae kwan do, i'd guess thats why they let people wear their jewelry. even still though, i wouldn't wear a piercing during training, no matter what martial art i was doing at the time.

a friend of mine has his done and does Tae Kwon Do with me, he has to take it out for most things, training, squads, gradings, tourniments but the rules state that no form of jewellry is to be worn whilst performing martial arts of any kind, I'm getting my tongue done next summer but I'll take it out for the hour of training, and stuff, well delpending what we're doing...

Don't take it out for that long as it'll close up by then. A toungue piercing won't get in the way when training.

well I'll see how it is, cuz they react differently with different people, some can leave it out for a few hours and others can't, I'd only really take it out for sparring anyway (fighting) and when officials are around and stuff..
