Using ie-cache.utvinternet.com port 8080 ,but frequently refresh gives me stale pages, anyone got recommendations for a proxy that updates faster?

Your stuck with whichever one the ISP gives you, but the best one I've seen is on Esat.net (Squid).

For an office I'd recommend ISA server, it gives a very good throughput.

This isn't true I can use the iol free proxy (proxy.iolfree.ie:8080) for browsing the web and i'm on eircom subscription.

That's a mistake on IOL's part. It shouldn't let you access it if it's configured properly.

A lot of ISP's (like us) use transparent cashing.
I use squid on my dialup machine at home,
which means I don't have to download images
and stuff over the phone line, which makes a big differance.
The avatar images on boards.ie for instance.

You just install it on your local machine and in your browser set the proxy to 127.0.0.1

I don't know why you'd do it if you only have one machine though. That's what the cache in your browser is for.
