Odd, the only forgeries I've seen were both €10s

Number of euro banknote forgeries down

The number of counterfeit euro banknotes in circulation was lower in the first six months of the current year than the same time a year ago, according to the latest data from the European Central Bank.

In the six months from January to June, a total of 293,000 forged notes were pulled out of circulation, down from 307,000 a year earlier, but up slightly from the 287,000 recorded in the second half of 2004, the ECB said in a statement.

'This figure is very similar to that for the second half of last year, but lower than in the first half of 2004,' the bank said. The guardian of the euro said the figures 'should be seen in the perspective of the number of genuine banknotes in circulation, which is around nine billion.'

The €50 banknote remains the most widely forged note, accounting for 62% of all counterfeits seized during the period from January to June. It was followed by the €20 note which accounted for 16% of forgeries.
