Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Trying to configure a machine (os is suse linux 7.1) here to have the a hostname eg: name.domain.ie

Now I can ping it but the hostname only appears without the domain.ie part, and when I try to ping name.domain.ie I get an invalid host.

    Any ideas?

Is the domain set is /etc/resolv.conf ?

    seach domain.ie

if you are not running a dns server, then just stick it in /etc/hosts

    ip name name.domain.ie

I did that, I can ping the hostname from the machine itself, but not other machines on the network; they can only see the name part.

Oh by the way, samba is running as the name server.

A DNS server or a WINS server ?
I would immagine that you need to run a DNS server (read the howto)
and point the other machines at that for their DNS.

AFAIK wins doesn't to a hierarchical naming scneme such as fred.domain.com, it just uses fred.
