    questions to be answered:
1.are young athletes being coached by people with qualifications and the know how?
2.athletics should be made fun.sports hall athletics up north is a great idea.
3.what happened to gormanstown coaching course
4.burnout of athletes eg William harty, paula sheehan.
ok these people do it for the love of the sport but maybe more traing course could be run and known to peope.maybe next irishrunner edition could
get people like sonia and mark Carroll to write about tips on coming from under age level to senior. Its a big step up.junior and u23 help.cross country you have novice and intermediate.
just a few ideas.hope to get some positive responses.not trying to be negative but positive.

I have to say that the dedication some of these coaches give to the sport is truly astonishing, eg: Eddie McDonagh driving a van with DSD on the back and always seeming to have loads of athletes in it, the numbers that gets to compete when they wouldn't be able to make it to races otherwise. Alot of the coaches are highly qualified but there's different styles of coaches which can cause burnout. I'm in a group of good miles and fast speedwork, the miles are the most important thing you can do in your week, esp a long run. Other groups do more speedwork, my 5 days break down to 3 miles (1 day hard, 1 day easy and 1 day steady) and 2 days speed/strength work. Some coaches believe more speedwork is nessecary, eg: Dave Farrow, and he is doing a mighty fine job of it too.
