Have you got Remission by Mastodon? That's pretty ****ing cool too. Don't bother with the EP (Life Blood???) though, it's terrible.

    I'll have to agree...
But add Dragonforce to the list... And I'll just hope the Rebirth of Dissection works out too! Bassist is gone already...

Just wondering who your favourite metal bands who have emerged from recent years are (Even if they were formed before then).
    For me, it's:

    American Head Charge
    Chimaira
    Killswitch Engage
    Lamb Of God
    Mastodon
    Mudvayne

For me there isn't a whole lot of future Slayers/Panteras going around but some of my favourite bands have come from recent years.

Im with you on this one exept replace mastadon with shadows fall.I just dont get mastadon at all i just cant see why people like em.

I thought Shadows fall were great when i heard The Art of Balance. It was something new.But the war within is crap.It is just the art of balance part 2,it has exactly the same guitar tone, song structure and all the songs sound exactly the same.i was so dissapointed

    Zyklon.

(yes they count, World Of Worms was released in 2001)

Oh, and American Head Charge kick major ass. Not so much with The Feeding though, I found that disappointing, but The War Of Art is ****ing brilliant.

To be honest I don't *really* like any of the bands I've heard from the past few years. A lot of it is going in a more hardcore direction and I think it's pretty boring. They all sound the same to me...

    i agree!!!!!!!!!

I've just gotten into Trivium, they are pretty good all round, except for the growling vocals
he can sing well though at times, pity all the songs aren't like that
    Other bands:
    Nightwish
    Within Temptation
    Arch Enemy

they've all been around for a while though...

    No specific order but...

    Shadows Fall
    Lamb Of God
    Killswitch Engage
    Mastodon
    Children Of Bodom
    Trivium

    Dragonforce
    Nightwish
    Lacuna Coil
    Sonata Artica
    Hammerfall

They've been mentioned but when they're all put together I find it hard to believe people don't think there have been any good metal bands out in recent years...

Isis are older than that (1998 is the first release on the website anyway).

But inspired by that (well ok they played with them in the TBMC), Jesu's EP Heartache is great. However it sounds almost exactly the same as the self-titled album, but with longer songs.

Other bands emm... I never got Mastodon either, listened to the albums and nothing clicked so... Eh.

Do Old Man Gloom fit in? Couldn't find when their first release was.

I have an absolutely brilliant cd by Apotheosis (Farthest From The Sun) which is as far as I can tell their only release.

Past that I don't really know... Can't find anything that sticks out as "new" in my playlist.
