Man have you been living in a cave? Its been out about 2 months now, and its been on the news cuz of the "Hot Coffee" mod any everything. Likelyhood is that its being pulled of the shelves now to have its rating changed.

can i get this to work on my playstation 2?

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,997 ✭✭✭jaggeh

you need an action replay cart and a huge string of code plus cheats for it to work on ps2.

the re-rating only affects US released copies, our rating system thankfully has an 18's cert already.

they have however stopped production but you should be able to get it still from most european retailers.

i see a nice re-re-release of GTA:SA this october, nice sales boost for christmas especially considering GTA4 is still a long way off

Why would it be pulled from our shelves? It's already rated 18 here - it was 17 (M) in the US and it's been changed to 18 (AO)...

Might as well do the incandescant rage here as anywhere...

WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH AMERICANS...specifically those who want the rating changed...

Let me get this straight - and please, correct me where I'm wrong...

We have a game, that involves inter alia theft, murder, assault, blackmail, embezzlement, drug trafficking, pimping, using the services of prostitutes and fast food.

In essence everything in this game actually is either illegal, immoral or fattening. But it's got a rating for 'mature' people

And then, and here's the kicker - and leaving aside the fact it won't work on a vanilla setup - there seems to be sequence where after you
    a) meet a girl
    b) bring her flowers
    c) bring her for a number of dates involving a nice drive/meal (leave out the drive by for now!!!)

you get to  have sex . AND it's this part they find objectionable?!?!?

    Jesus wept...

:D ^ That's a great point - It's probably the only wholesome part of the whole game and that's the bit that gets it into the news!!

It's just the same as all the hullabaloo around Manhunt two years ago - pushed the game to further sales.

It's the soccer moms who have the problem with the content, but they don't have the power to have it pulled from shelves....that power lies with the ESRB.
Now the only reason the ESRB have thrown a bitchfit is because R* and TakeTwo didn't inform them of all the content (whether it be hidden or not) and that's why it has to be pulled. Stupid I know, but it can be argued that perhaps R*/T2 did this on purpose to enable them to get an M (mature) rating...since AO (Adult Only)rated games will not be carried by a lot of big US retailers (that's where the soccer moms come into it).
Let's not forget here that it's R*/T2's own decision to pull remaining copies from the shelves and have it re-rated.
But they've already made their money on this game...and there's no such thing as bad publicity.

I agree about the double standards of GTASA and it's violent content with regards to a simple sex/nudity scene....but the argument is that they never declared the content was there. That's the only problem.

I have to love that the ESRB argued that the sexual content could find its way into the hands of children. Ignoring for a moment all of the other things that this game contains that aren't suitable for kids, the AO rating only raises the minimum age from 17 to 18. Now, it could be argued, that 17 year olds are "children", but when you find out that the age of consent in the majority of US states is 16 or 17, then where is the ****ing problem?. The people in control in the US are f*cked up.

That's the beauty of a far right Christian agenda for you.
Guns and violence are okay...hell they watch movies like that all the time...but actual sex? No, that's considered pornographic and unwholesome. Especially interactive sex. Especially in a computer game like GTA....in fact if this was any other game there wouldn't be half the fuss there is over it.
They really need to get their heads out of their collective arses over there...

[edit] There is a similar controversy emerging over Sims2...some Congressman has a bee in his bonnet over the moddable content
