I have been looking at that and wanting one for a while but tbh
the susposed broad band connection we have with IBB has been far to
unstable for me to buy the phone and sign a contract if it will be sitting there
and I would be unable to use it or have people ring in on it.

Please do let us know how you get on with IBB and Blueface.

I am using IBB and blueface. Which unfortunately means that my 6yr old daughter in the UK doesn't get to speak with her father most nights of the week.

** Lodge an official complaint via email ti IBB. Wait 7 days to hear nothing then lodge a complaint with comreg. Theres a few of us going through that process at the moment. If enough do, maybe comreg will force IBB into doing something about this farce. **

Apparently the upload speed problem has something to do with The "Internet" To IrishBroad rather than our connection to our mast.

I find it hard to fathom that "The Internet is Broken", to be honest.

How much does a 10Mb/s IBB connection set you back?

I'm Dublin city centre. For about 3 days my IBB connection has been very slow.

    Annoying.

Yea having same prob with upload speed as well. 2mb Breeze: 1.90 Mbps download but only ~100 kbps upload. On RTE mast.

Guess something wrong with the whole IBB system. Hope they get it fixed tomorrow.

  • Subscribers Posts: 9,716 ✭✭✭CuLT

Not the whole system, my neighbour two doors down on the business 2MB has perfect speeds up and down.

I know I have said this before, but log all of your contacts with IBB....

If It's not sorted then lodge an official complaint via email to IBB. Wait 7 days to hear nothing then lodge a complaint with comreg. Theres a few of us going through that process at the moment. If enough do, maybe comreg will force IBB into doing something about this farce.

Don't bother lodging it with IBB, go straight to Comreg; complaints from Comreg have to be dealt with because otherwise the company starts to lose marks on Comregs smiley-face meter.
Now that may just be policy for other telecoms companies, but I'm under the impression that no telecom can fob off a request from Comreg.

think you have to complain to your ISP first. If you don't get a reply in a certain amount of days then you can go to comreg. But u must make a resonable effort to solve with your supplier first.

It's a shame that lodging with IBB won't actually work... just waste time :/

We have made our formal complaint to ComReg and they replied "We will contact Irish Broadband on your behalf and request that they
respond to you directly". That was on the 15th July. I spoke to a girl in ComReg and she told me that they do nothing for 10 days.

Needless to say no response from Irish Broadband so far and none expected in view of our dismal experience with them.

Ive heard that comreg are not there to stop coms companies cheating on the public but rather to stop them cheating on each other. So they dont really care what service they give us. Can any one confirm or deny this one. As I have been concidering getting in touch with them my self.

IBB has been very slow for me as well. 2 m/bit business package. Download max speed now 160 k/b per second. Upload max 50 k/b per second. But that's not the whole story, the uploads drop down to 0 frequently with an average speed of about 10-15 k/b per second!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,042 ✭✭✭spooky donkey

I hold on to the hope that some day it will actually work as its ment to.

Comreg are totally useless. Don't bother with them. Vote with your feet - move away from IBB!

Personally, I don't mind IBB (for reasons which I shall not elaborate on a public forum!!)
