AFAIK in New Zealand prostitution is completely legal (or decriminalised) and the country is run by women!

Where I am at the moment in Sydney prostitution is legal in some areas of the city. It makes sense for all concerned - girls, customers, the public and of course the police. To my knowledge it's tightly regulated (no pun intended) and everyone wins.

Ireland really needs to drag it's heels out of the last century and let people make up their own minds about what is right and wrong when it comes to issues such as morality and sexuality. Oh and it's completely ridiculous that hardcore porn is STILL illegal in Ireland to this day. It's almost like if we don't acknowledge it it doesn't exist. Pathetic...

I think it's comical how many people mention €50 in their posts, as if there's a fixed price, or €50 is the Euro basket average. How are you qualified to comment when you don't even know how much it costs? Do any of these holier-that-thou types know what actually happens, or where it happens? Is all prositution bad or just the cheap prostitution? How about the girls that insist upon condoms, are they less worse? How about the ones that are certified disease free? How about the ones that charge your favourite politicians - you know the ones, up on their high horses about moral issues like yourselves - €1000 or €2000 a throw, are they better?

Damn right its sad if a guy hasn't got the confidence to approach a woman but then again its people like these that would be more likely to pay for sex, because they see it as the only way to get sex, for the cost of a night out, without feeling the failure of not having the confidence of talking to a girl and not getting a shag at the end of the night.

I absolutely agree with you here and prostitution has been around for well over 2000 years and its only in the last few hundred years that its being cast out as being illegal and wrong. As long as its regulated and taxed properly like in Amsterdam then it should work reasonably well, but as always people will use religion to prove it as being immoral and wrong in society.
