I'm going abroad soon to visit relatives. It'd be nice to bring some nice irish whiskey, not the airport stuff but something more classy. They have already had Connemara, from Dundalk  , so I'd like something else. Bit more rare but not too expansive like...

    Any suggestions?

What about a hamper with Irish Whiskey Marmalade, Irish Cookies, Clonikility Pudding etc

Well Midleton is the finest Irish whiskey but it's very pricey.

Green Spot would be a cheaper alternative. It's probably not a very well known whiskey, but it's taste is sublime.

You should be able to pick up a bottle for about €35 - €40 in a specialist wine or whiskey shop.

Not to burst your bubble, but Conemara isn't rare. The easiest place to get it
    ? Dublin Airport!

That aside...I really like the re-released version of Redbreast. Its not as good as the original, but its only relatively recently back on the market, tastes great, and isn't that expensive.

Another option (if you're around Dublin) is Slieve na gCloc - and Irish Whiskey (peated, single-malt) done by Oddbins (exclusive to them). I wouldn't be surprised to find out its a rebadged Conemara or something...but it is rather tasty.

the airport usually has very good selections these days, and whiskies tend not to be in the dirty big plastic bottles with duty free stamped all over them. You cant go wrong with a 12 year old jameson
